Microsoft promises robust USB 3.0 support in Windows 8 and shows off USB 3.0 demo
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftWindows 8
We all know that support for USB 3.0 on Windows computers today isn’t nearly as wide spread as most of us would like. The main reason for this is that there is still no chipsets with USB 3.0 controllers onboard. The maker of the mainboard has to use a third party chipset to enable USB 3.0 support. Microsoft is now promising that Windows 8 will have robust USB 3.0 support.

HTC is hitting London next week to show off future devices and Windows Phone will be top of the agenda, according to BGR. It claims to have heard from a little birdie within HTC headquarters that two Windows Phone Mango devices will make their debut on September 1.
Sadly there’s not a lot of new details to feast on. The source simply says the HTC Eternity (which was leaked last month) will have a 3.7in screen while the HTC Omega (which also popped up in July) will sport a 4.5in display.

It's not every day that we see a new camera hit the market -- it only feels like it is. And today it's Canon's turn in the spotlight. Beefing up its point-and-shoot lineup with a trio of PowerShots, the company just announced its SX150 IS, ELPH 310 HS, and ELPH 510 HS -- that last one is billed as the thinnest camera to include a 12x optical zoom lens with 28mm wide-angle. All three models include a new IS system, Smart Auto with 32 shooting scenes, high-speed burst, and HD video capture. First case of Android running on HP TouchPad caught on video
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsTabletsHPGoogleAndroid 2.2TouchPad
What would happen if the HP TouchPad could run Android instead of its native webOS platform? Although it was not originally meant to do that, in terms of hardware, the tablet is more than capable of booting Google's operating system, and there is already a team of developers trying to turn this crazy idea into reality.
However, somebody seems to have beaten them to it. There is a rumor circulating on the web claiming that a Best Buy customer who took advantage of the tablet's aggressively discounted price of $99 received a unit, which had Android 2.2 Froyo installed instead of webOS. Although we cannot confirm the credibility of the story, there is a video showing the Froyo-flavored TouchP...

South Korea to develop its own... smartphone OS, aims to rival iOS, Android
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating Systems
Some nations have their own drinks, some stand out with their local customs, but South Korea might be the first one taking pride not only in its kimchi and K-POP, but a government sponsored mobile OS, rivaling Google’s Android platform and Apple’s iOS. The nation houses tech giants Samsung and LG, which will drive development of the new operating system. The project is expected to kick off by the end of the year.
"We will forge ahead in developing a new kind of operating system, which is being seen as a next-generation product, in order to build the kind of advantage we do not enjoy in the market for smartphones and tablet PCs, which is dominated by Google and Apple," Kim Jae-hong, deputy m...

Cheaper iPhone 4 version coming soon, tip suppliers of its 8GB internal memory chip
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4
An 8GB internal memory flash drive is being manufactured for a cheaper version of the iPhone 4 by a Korean company, "people with knowledge on the matter" have disclosed for Reuters. The iPhone 4's 16GB and 32GB memory chips are made by Samsung and Toshiba, so that leaves Samsung as the most likely candidate.
What's the centerpiece of this rumor, though, is the fact that Apple might be indeed readying to announce another iPhone, which all indications show will be an iPhone 4 "lite" version, with less memory, and possibly plastic casing, instead of glass, in order to keep costs in check. The rumor that spurred the idea that the shell will be made of plastic, also claimed that the new phone fe...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S II
A number of Samsung Galaxy S II owners have arranged a coffee shop meeting in Hanoi to compare the displays of their phones, some of which have been produced in Samsung's factory in Vietnam, and found out they differ from the imports. Another issue had been the pink spot in the middle of the screen, resulting from trying to take pictures under low light conditions against bright backgrounds.
Samsung is operating one of its most modern factories in the country, which was a $1 billion investment, and it replied to the initial screen complaints that only 10% of the production goes to Vietnam, the rest is sold all around the world, and complies with the most stringent quality requirements of th...
