Hulu Accepting Bids, Could Sell for $2 Billion
Like UnlikeIt's no secret Hulu's owners want to sell the video streaming service, but what isn't isn't yet know is who will buy it and how much Hulu will fetch. Hulu set a deadline for Wednesday for suitors to submit their initial bids, and this could turn out to be a multi-billion dollar deal, according to The Wall Street Journal.
WSJ is getting its information from "people familiar with the matter" who claim the bids are likely to vary wildly depending on what TV shows Hulu lines up, as well as other factors, such as how long before shows would stream on Hulu after they air on television, and length of agreements with Hollywood studios.

Google Fiber Goes Live Near Stanford
Like UnlikeFiled in: Google
Google announced last October that they would be beta testing their Google Fiber initiative in a small residential neighborhood affiliated with Stanford University, and one lucky Redditor posted the results. The service is being provided free to the faculty and staff of Stanford that live just off campus and the speeds are mostly unheard of in this country. This beta test, of course, comes ahead of the roll-out of their Kansas City experiment in 1 Gbps fiber internet service. Speedtest results linked and pictured below for you to drool over.

Audio specialist Sennheiser is expanding its broad line of noise-cancelling travel headphones with the CXC 700 ear-canal phone. The CXC 700, which was previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year, features Sennheiser’s exclusive NoiseGard™ /digital system, which allows travelers to choose from three noise-cancelling modes optimized to reduce low, medium and high frequency noise.
Mode 1 is effective on low-frequency noise in particular (100 to 400 Hertz), such as engine noise from trains, buses or small passenger planes. Mode 2 focuses on cancelling noise in the medium frequency range (400 to 3,000 Hertz), which is caused mostly by air-conditioning systems in large passenger ...

Android (Finally) Taking Steps Towards WebKit And Chromium
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleChromium OSAndroid
Why isn’t Chrome a part of Android? It’s a question as old as time itself. Or at least a few years old. But given that the same company, Google, makes both products, it never made much sense. Now they’re finally taking steps to resolve this. A bit. Maybe.
As a group of Googlers have announced on the WebKit-Dev group today (relayed by Google’s Peter Beverloo), the Android team is now committed to working more closely with the WebKit community. Yes, it’s a bit odd that a product so devoted to “open” wasn’t really working with the open source community before — but hey, better late than never.

Photo Galleries Hit Twitter
Like UnlikeTwitter today has enabled a new feature that makes the most recent 100 photos tweeted by any given user visible from that user's profile page. A handful of photo thumbnails can be seen on each user's page, which are then visible in full once clicked on by other users. The new galleries on Twitter.com store the most recent 100 photos a user has posted to Twitter in chronological order. This also includes the photos that are part of a user's retweets. Photos posted before January 1, 2010 won't be included, and neither will videos.

I don’t know how many developers webOS claimed, but that number is likely at least 1000 smaller, with more than 1000 webOS developers responding to Brandon Watson’s call for them to take up Windows Phone 7 development following HP’s assassination of webOS.
The call had been widely covered in the media, and is even pulling in developers from other platforms, including Android and Symbian.

Evernote for iOS updated with rich text support, password security
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsAppleiOS 4
Popular note-taking service Evernote has updated its iOS app for the iPhone and iPad with a number of new features that bring it to parity with the Windows Phone and Android versions of the app. Most notably, the Evernote app for iOS now supports rich text editing and password security options.
Apparently adding rich text support to the iOS version of Evernote was not as easy as it was on other platforms, so the company is quite excited about it. With rich text editing, you can add styled text, such as bold, italicized, or underlined text, highlight existing text, add URLs, create header text, and make lists.
