HTC Ultimate is none other than Brazil's version of the HTC Titan
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCTitan
When you hear about a phone that has the word ‘ultimate’ in its name, our natural inclination is to expect something so unique and larger than life that we’re instantly captivated by it. Interestingly enough, the so-called HTC Ultimate is actually a smartphone that we’ve gotten acquainted with already.
Specifically, the HTC Ultimate is none other than Brazil’s version of the recent HTC Titan – the lovable and massive Windows Phone Mango device that’s been making the rounds of late. Not surprisingly, the information actually comes from Brazil’s version of the FCC; the Brazilian ANATEL
Donning the same looking metallic design of the Titan, everything on the outside appears to be the same, but ...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Steven Paul Jobs, named CEO of the decade by MarketWatch, might have resigned as a chief executive from Apple, but he remains a chairman and is still expected to appear at the iPhone unveiling tomorrow, alongside current man in charge Tim Cook.
Reports about Jobs “expected” to appear on stage first surfaced on Reuters today, but at the same time the same report precautions that even if the iconic CEO doesn’t show up, it won’t be a huge disappointment.
"Investors would like to see Steve Jobs to confirm that he is still involved, but we have dealt with the fact that he's not going to be as involved," Capitol Advisors Growth Fund manager Channing Smith said. "We'd love to see an appearance but...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCSensation 4G
Good news for customers of Cincinnati Bell as the Android-powered HTC Sensation 4G has arrived on the network and can be had for $249.99 with a two-year agreement after a mail-in-rebate.
The Sensation 4G will be able to reap the benefits of the HSPA+ network that Cincinnati Bell launched in their home network in July. It will also be capable of roaming off of other carriers towers so fortunately you will not be limited to Cincinnati if you want to enjoy the wonders of 4G speeds.
The Sensation 4G is nothing short of its name and is a popular smartphone that is currently offered by T-Mobile. The main attraction of the handset is of course its Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. It also...

LG Optimus 3D gets its 3D game converter via software update
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus 3D
The 3D game converter that LG announced would be coming to the Optimus 3D smartphone is now being pushed to the device via a software update. If you remember from August when the feature was announced, the 3D game converter will allow users to convert 2D games into 3D on-the-fly on their 3D-enabled smartphones.
Nearly any game that uses OpenGL graphics can be converted from 2D into 3D using the software, but LG is compiling a list of officially supported titles. Games that are not on LG's supported list can be forced into 3D mode, but the manufacturer does not guarantee that the conversion will work.
The software update for the Optimus 3D does not include Android 2.3 Gingerbread unfortunatel...

Apple iPhone 5 preview: What to expect
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Apple is all set to unveil the next generation iPhone or two tomorrow and we thought we’d comb through the rumors and let you know what to expect. More than any other company, Apple is good at keeping secrets, so while some elements have leaked out, I’m sure there will be a few surprises.
Apple CEO Tim Cook should be the one to unveil the iPhone 5 now that Steve Jobs has stepped down but Jobs may make a special appearance. Cook did introduce the Verizon iPhone 4 and Apple may want to make this event about him and the iPhone 5. We’re guessing it’s going to be just the iPhone 5, as the invitation has a “1″ next to the phone icon but rumors still persist about a lower-cost iPhone, maybe called ...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSony EricssonXperia ray
Giving you a new opportunity to tell your favorite carrier exactly where it can stick that nasty two-year agreement, the unlocked Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray has made its official debut in the United States. In partnership with NewEgg, the handset carries an MSRP of $425 (although it currently sells for $380), where shoppers may choose between gold, black, white and pink varieties. As carrier compatibility goes, the phone features quad-band GSM support, along with 3G capability over the 2100 / 1900 / 850MHz airwaves, which makes it best suited for AT&T in the US, or Bell, Rogers and Telus up north. The Xperia Ray packs an MSM8255 SoC -- which features a 1GHz CPU and an Adreno 205 GPU -- along w...

Verizon's Samsung Stratosphere specs unveiled
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessStratosphere
Remember the Samsung Stratosphere, one of those devices we’ve seen on Verizon’s leaked roadmap? Well we now have additional details to report about it, compliments of DroidLife which managed to get its hands on two charts comparing Samsung’s baby with some other smartphones.
But first, let’s talk about the specs. The Stratosphere is a device that we would most easily describe as Verizon’s version of Sprint’s Epic 4G. It’s pretty much the original Samsung Galaxy S under the hood, adding the ever-useful physical QWERTY keyboard to the mix. In that sense, it comes with a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen, single-core 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel front-facing ...

HTC confirms security hole, says patch is incoming
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTC
HTC held true to its promise to look into the security vulnerability that surfaced over the weekend, an apparent glitch that allows any app requesting internet access to take a peek at a user account information, GPS location, system logs, and other potentially private data. While HTC assured us that user data isn't at risk of being harmed by its own software, a third party malware app could exploit the security flaw and cause some trouble. The outfit is already building a patch, and will ship it out in an over the air update after a short testing period with its carrier partners. Until then? HTC recommends steering clear of apps from publishers you don't trust. Hit the break to see the offi...

Nokia outsources Symbian support which will continue until 2016
Like UnlikeFiled in: NOKIA
It looks like Symbian may have a more drawn out death than we have been led to believe. We have known that Nokia plans to shift focus from Symbian to Windows Phone 7, but Nokia had also been fairly active in building the buzz around Symbian recently with the release of OS update Belle, and the announcement of Microsoft Office Apps for the platform. But, it seems that Nokia no longer wants the responsibility of upkeep on Symbian and has outsourced the platform.
This past Friday, Nokia finalized the agreement to outsource Symbian software development and support activities to global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, Accenture. Accenture will continue to suppor...

Who says that developer conferences are boring? Well, we’d bet that attendees of BlackBerry DevCon Americas, which is being held between October 18th to the 20th in San Francisco, are going to be ecstatic knowing what’s in store for them at the event.
From the sound of it, RIM will be handing out free BlackBerry PlayBook tablets to each and every registered attendee at the event. Typically, attendees are normally showered with smaller gifts such as sweatshirts, jackets, or some other wearable apparel, but this time around, they’re really spicing things up. In fact, this is the second time this year that RIM is going handing out PlayBooks seeing that they did the same thing for BlackBerry Wor...

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 coming to T-Mobile October 26
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsSamsungT-MobileGALAXY Tab 10.1
Some internal T-Mobile documents are indicating their version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be going on sale October 26 (barring any delays). T-Mobile will be joining multiple retailers here in the US who currently offer the popular razor-thin slate.
This is pretty awesome news for the T-Mo faithful, especially given the legal troubles that Samsung and Apple are currently entangled in around the world. Right now, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is seeing injunctions in Australia and Germany. Honestly, consumers living in the United States should probably be feeling a bit fortunate that they are still able to get their hands on this beautiful piece of hardware without any problems. Really, we feel ...

Amazon reportedly sold 95,000 Kindle Fire tablets during the device’s first day of pre-sales availability alone. According to estimates from market research and intelligence firm eDataSource, pre-order sales of Amazon’s upcoming premier tablet may be on an astounding pace. To put the company’s estimated day-one sales in perspective, RIM sold just 200,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets into sales channels during the entirety of its second fiscal quarter. How did eDataSource arrive at the 95,000 figure? ”eDataSource’s panel of 800,000 inboxes allows us to gain insight into eCommerce sales” eDataSource CEO Carter Nicholas said. “Within hours we can get a read on hot product launches based on sales...
