Samsung compares the iPhone 4S with its Galaxy S II
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungAppleGalaxy S IIiPhone 4s
If our “iPhone 4S vs competition” chart is not good enough for you, maybe you’ll like Samsung’s own chart. They’ve prepared a table that compares their flagship smartphone, Galaxy S II, with the brand new iPhone 4S. Needless to say, the Korean company wants to show us their product is superior in many aspects.
For instance, the Galaxy S II has a bigger screen – the AT&T version has 42% more screen area (length x width), while Sprint’s and T-Mobile’s Galaxy S II will have 58% more screen area than the iPhone 4S.
When it comes to connectivity, the Galaxy S II’s HSPA+ network speeds are at least 50% faster with AT&T 21Mbps and three times faster with T-Mobile’s 42 MBPS than the iPhone 4S’s 14Mb...

Apple stock drops 5% after the iPhone 4S announcement
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Investors obviously expected much more from Apple with the company’s stock falling as much as 5% after the iPhone 4S announcement. To be fair there are some neat services that were also announced, some of which pretty much open new businesses for the Cupertino-based company. However, few words we wanted to hear never came out of Tim Cook’s mouth — you know words like LTE and NFC.
Then again, the market was also down (about 1.5%) during the announcement, so I guess the 5% drop isn’t a complete picture. What’s more, the market reacted similarly when Steve Jobs announced the iPad (Apple’s stock fell 2.5%), only to rebound after the lower-than-expected price of the new tablet was unveiled.

The projector can display 3D content with the help from active 3D glasses. The projector is not as powerful as some of the other models that have been unveiled, but it is still sufficient to display a quality image. The connection panel has been fitted with a diverse selection, including RGB, HDMI, composite, s-video, and several audio ports as well. The EH-TW5900 is not expected to release until November and it will retail for just under £1000 ($1539).

AppleCare+ debuts for $99, offers to cover accidental damage in addition to the standard fare
Like UnlikeFiled in: Apple
Once upon a time, the AppleCare Protection Plan was a service provided by Cupertino to extend out the life of your iPhone warranty for an extra year and enable Apple reps to help with additional customer service concerns. It still offers all of that, but now a Plus has been added to the title. The new plan was revealed as the cloak over the Apple Store lifted after today's keynote, with the boxes shipping out the same day as the iPhone 4S. What's so "plus" about it, you might ask? It's plus $30, for one, getting a price bump from $70 to $100. The good news, though, is that it also now offers two instances of protection from accidental damage... for a $49 fee each time. It's a fair deal less ...

Corsair Teases 32GB Memory Possibilities with New 8GB DDR3 Modules
Like UnlikeFiled in: Corsair
Whether or not you think it's practical to outfit a system with 32GB of memory, Corsair is at least making the prospect possible by adding 8GB DDR3 modules to its Vengeance and Value Select memory lines. Slap four of these sticks into your dual-channel setup and you'll be sitting pretty with more RAM than most people know what to do with.
The Vengeance stick is clocked at 1600MHz with 10-10-10-27 latency settings. Corsair says it selects only "rigorously-screened DRAM" for its Vengeance modules to ensure both high performance and flexible overclockability. A 32GB system using these modules won't come cheap, however, as street pricing hovers at about $270 per 8GB stick.
Corsair's 8GB Value Se...

iPhone 4S Bluetooth hints at new accessories
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Want more proof the iPhone 4S isn’t anything like the iPhone 4 on the inside? Take a look at its Bluetooth specs. Apple’s new baby supports Bluetooth 4.0. The ultra-low power wireless system is also found in the latest MacBook Air and Mac Mini, but hints at a whole new range of accessories for the iPhone 4S.
See, Bluetooth 4.0 can pulse once a second, sending updates or receiving data from accessories without so much as tickling the iPhone’s battery life. A single watch battery would keep a Bluetooth 4.0 signal running for years on end. With the power of an iPhone behind it, the impact of wireless data for things like pedometers, proximity sensing or medical accessories is negligible.

PayPal to open pop-up store next month in NYC, showcasing new mobile payment options
Like UnlikePaypal is all set to open a new pop-up store in the trendy streets of downtown Manhattan, New York, to announce and showcase their new payment options and point-of-sale features that are coming soon. PayPal plans to invite local merchants to visit the store, located at 174 Hudson, to experience and see real-time demos of the company’s payment processing technology for retail stores, and see it in action how they intend for it to be at brick and mortar stores nationwide.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such news, we mentioned this briefly back in July as a response to other mobile payment systems such as Google Wallet and more. Along with the retail store in Manhattan coming November 1s...

Apple's iPod nano now $149 for 16GB and $129 for 8GB (update: 2010 nanos get the goodies too)
Like UnlikeFiled in: Portable Media PlayersAppleiPod nano 6gen
Apple keeps coming with the news from its "Let's talk iPhone" event, and the latest is a price drop for its diminutive PMP, the nano. From now on, you'll be forking over $129 for an 8GB version and $149 for twice the tunage space. Additionally, Cupertino's tossing in big icons -- as opposed to the grid of 4 that was the only option previously -- 16 new clocks (Mickey Mouse included!) to go with all those fabulous watch accessories, and workout tracking abilities right out of the box so you no longer need a Nike+ shoe dongle to see how many calories you've burned. Not bad for a little guy, eh? Full PR after the break.

Nvidia's GeForce 285 Beta Drivers Hint at New Mobile GPUs
Like UnlikeFiled in: Graphic CardsnVIDIA
It looks like Nvidia is gearing up to launch a pair of 600 Series mobile graphics chips. We know this because somebody went and dissected Nvidia's recently released GeForce 283.38 drivers and found a couple of lines of code referencing the unreleased parts, which is a good indicator that they'll be showing up soon.
VR-Zone dug up the following lines of code from the new drivers:
NVIDIA_DEV.1058.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce 610M"
NVIDIA_DEV.0DE9.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M"
Not much is known about these upcoming parts, though VR-Zone surmises it's entirely possible the GT 630M could be the shipping name for Nvidia's GK107, a part that features a 128-bit memory interface and supports DDR3 and GDDR5 m...

Belgian ISPs Forced to Block The Pirate Bay
Like UnlikeA Belgian appeals court has ordered two Belgian ISPs to begin blocking The Pirate Bay or face fines. The ruling comes after a two year long court battle that originally had the ISPs protected from forced filtering. Now the ISPs have 14 days to comply with the ruling, but The Priate Bay says there is no reason for concern.
According to Pirate Bay, they only see an uptick in traffic when an ISP blocks them. There are numerous methods for circumventing an DNS-level block. They cheekily added their thanks to the Belgian Anti-Piracy Federation (BAF) for the free advertising. BAF takes the situation much more seriously, though, saying that the ISPs were creating a safe haven for piracy. Digital ri...

Energy Star Unveils Revamped Qualifications
Like UnlikeTVs that receive the Energy Star certification are guaranteed to help the consumer save money with their electronic bill. Today the Energy Star announced that they have revamped their Energy star 5.3 certification. The down side to this revamp is that many TVs that used to qualify no longer do. The revamp states that the TVs now have to be at least 40% more efficient than standard models. Also, larger models will receive stricter requirements. The new standards unfortunately will disqualify any plasma at least 50 inches or more in size and any non-LED-backlight LCD TV. “With the intention of seeing products that meet the newest requirements on retail shelves when 5.3 takes effect, EPA halted...

The iPhone 4S Camera Upgrade Explained
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
It may be that the most compelling new feature of the iPhone 4S isn’t iOS 5 or the A5 processor, but the new camera. I’ve given phone cameras a lot of guff for the generally poor image quality that results from a small sensor and bad glass, but this really is a problem that camera-makers have been trying to alleviate. And the iPhone 4S is looking like the best effort yet.
Why should you care about the iPhone’s new camera? Let’s go down the list and make sense of the new features.
8 megapixels. Well. This one is self-explanatory, but really the least important. Other phones and small cameras have high megapixel counts, and really, you don’t want or need that many. The thing is all those tiny ...
