Last.fm password breach occurred three months ago
Like UnlikeLast.fm is about to have more unhappy users. The music company admitted last week that passwords for users were leaked. The company told users to change the passwords and officially announced that it was investigating the leak. However, word has now surfaced that the password breach actually happened three months ago even though the company only announced it last week and urged users to change passwords.
Reports also claim that Last.fm suspected it had been targeted in May and said nothing to users. The security breach of passwords for Last.fm came close to the breach of LinkedIn and eHarmony. The hacks came to the public eye after about 1.5 million passwords were posted to a forum online.

Flame malware extinguishes itself, Microsoft protects against future burns
Like UnlikeFiled in: Microsoft
The folks behind that nasty Flame trojan that burned its way through the Middle East aren't the kind to brag -- the malware's manufacturers apparently started dousing their own fire last week. According to Symantec reports, several compromised machines retrieved a file named browse32.ocx from Flame controlled servers, which promptly removed all traces of the malware from the infected systems. Although the attackers seem spooked, Microsoft isn't taking any chances, and has issued a fix to its Windows Server Update Services to block future attacks. The update hopes to protect networked machines from a similar attack by requiring HTTPS inspection servers to funnel Windows update traffic through...

Intel’s Next Unit of Computing to cost around $400
Like UnlikeFiled in: Intel
Intel seems to be dabbling in a few different areas right now. The company has the desktop and laptop market locked down pretty tight, and is now attempting to breach the mobile space with Medfield, and may be looking to target miniature computers and HTPCs next. Back in April the company unveiled its “Next Unit of Computing” box, which packed a Sandy Bridge chip, Thunderbolt, HDMI, and USB all into a 10cm by 10cm box, and now rough pricing has been revealed.

It may be late in the evening here in the States, but for T-Mobile users, your time in the sun has finally arrived -- Android 4.0.3 is now available via Samsung Kies for the Galaxy S II. According to the carrier, the update won't be made available via an OTA download, which means that if you don't have a PC, you'd best shake down a friend at this late hour -- or, at least give 'em a call in the morning. In addition to Ice Cream Sandwich, the update is said to bring WiFi calling improvements and enhancements to the voicemail system. It'd also be wise to ensure that your phone's software is up-to-date before you begin, as Android 2.3.6 is a prerequisite of the upgrade. Ready to dive in? Just h...

Google Nexus tablet release date rumor: June Nexus 7 launch reported

Google will launch its first own-brand media tablet in collaboration with ASUS later this month, a recent report claims. Google has long been reported to be working on its own tablet that will follow a model similar to its Nexus-brand smartphones. The company is said to have partnered with ASUS to manufacture the device, which earlier reports said will begin shipping this month. While rumors suggested the tablet would be delayed until July, a new report from Android Authority cited an anonymous source at ASUS in claiming that the Nexus 7 quad-core tablet will launch in June. Microsoft Releases Intune 3.0 With Windows Phone Support
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftWindows Phone 7
Microsoft today announced the third version of Windows Intune, its cloud-based solution for PC and mobile device management and security. Along with the new people centric capabilities and upgrade rights to the latest version of Windows, the latest version now includes the ability to download “licensed available line-of-business software applications” on Windows Phone 7.0 & above, iOS and Android devices. I think enterprise support is much needed for Windows Phone devices and as Microsoft’s own division such as Server & Tools adding support for it is a good thing. We may see wide adoption among companies across the world as Windows Phone 8 gets released with much more enterprise support.

Rubin denies he’s leaving Google: 900k daily Android activations
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid
It’s not often that Andy Rubin takes to Twitter, but a rumor first posted by Robert Scoble on Google+ has prompted Google’s Senior Vice President of Mobile to post an update. Rubin recently published his eleventh tweet, saying that the rumors were false and that he was staying put at Google.
In addition, Rubin also gave an update for daily Android activations, which was hitting around 850,000 back in February when Mobile World Congress was in full swing. Rubin has now declared that Android is up to 900,000 activations per day. Of course, there’s no distinction between smartphones, t...

Google must respond by July with regards to the ongoing antitrust investigation by the European Commission for Competition Policy, presenting realistic and workable proposals in order to avoid huge fines, which could potentially be as much as 10% of the internet search firm's annual income.
