T-Mobile Q2 Results Show 50,000 Net Subscribers Lost
Like UnlikeFiled in: T-Mobile
T-Mobile customers jumped ship in large numbers during Q1 2011, perhaps due to the AT&T acquisition announcement in March, but losses seem to be improving for Q2. T-Mobile saw a net loss of 50,000 subscribers in Q2, which is down from 99,000 net subscribers lost in Q1. CEO of Deutsche Telekom Rene Obermann says, ““The United States remains a difficult market for Deutsche Telekom, but we see improvements compared to the first quarter of 2011.”
Perhaps T-Mobile’s figures will improve as it continues its HSPA+ or “4G” rollout through the country. For all the details, see the press release below.

For a while now, we’ve been hearing lots of information about it, but we’ve actually started to hear news about their roll out of late – albeit, some are still eagerly awaiting for its arrival. Well, for those who seemingly are unable to get the highly anticipated update to Gingerbread, customers can head into their local T-Mobile store starting on August 6th to get it. However, it’s worth noting that handset owners located in the midwest and west regions will need to wait un...

Like UnlikeFiled in: T-Mobile
If you're a Londoner who's struggling to live within your means, T-Mobile is hoping its latest You Fix plans are the solution to your budgetary woes. The Magenta-clad carrier's UK arm promotes You Fix as the ultimate hybrid of pay monthly and pay-as-you-go. Customers sign a 12 month commitment to one of three plans that range between £15.50 ($25) and £26 ($42) per month, and the most expensive plan brings 300 minutes and texts. Once the allotment is met, consumers can top off their accounts based on T-Mobile's traditional PAYG rates, or bide their time until the new month rolls around. T-Mobile expands carrier billing options for customers
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesT-Mobile
T-Mobile is taking some extra steps in the direct carrier billing department by allowing customers to purchase content and services and have said services charged to their monthly bill.
“In 2009, T-Mobile was the first U.S. carrier to offer direct carrier billing for the Android Market. With this new program, we’re extending the hassle-free payment experience to browser-based purchases from virtually any online source and across a variety of mobile devices, delivering more purchasing power to mobile-centric consumers.”
While the option to have something added to your monthly bill sounds like a great idea, it would most likely just fuel needless purchases on the customers part, just because t...

You didn't think T-Mobile forgot all about you G2x users out there, did ya? The phone, foreordained to become the carrier's poster child, didn't have the best launch ever; when you release a device plagued with glitches and a nearly-immediate inventory shortage, you're not really starting off on the right foot. Don't let those "out of stock" signs fool you into thinking the mystical handset has been completely wiped from existence, however. It's still around -- in fact, the "Get More" network is hard at work to give more, prepping the phone's update to Gingerbread that'll likely include much-needed fixes. We reached out to a T-Mobile spokesperson, who briefed us on the progress of this elusi...

Windows Phone 7 “4G” promotional material show up at T-Mobile retail
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMicrosoftT-MobileWindows Phone 7
Here is some great news. Apparently T-Mobile stores are getting promotional material featuring “4G Windows Phone”.
Tmonews also have pictures of Windows Phone stickers without the 4G label, indicating not all Windows Phones on T-Mobile will have that feature.
Of course the news would be more exciting if 4G on T-Mobile was not just HSDPA +, rather than LTE or WIMAX, but new Windows Phones with competitive specs are still great.

T-Mobile responds to Sen. Al Franken's recommendation against AT&T merger
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesT-MobileAT&T
Minnesota Senator Al Franken sent a letter to the heads of the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice earlier this week, stating that AT&T’s proposed $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA was not in the best interest of the American public. “The competitive effects of a merger of this size and scope will reverberate throughout the telecommunications sector for decades to come and will affect consumer prices, customer service, innovation, competition in handsets and the quality and quantity of network coverage. These threats are too large and too irrevocable to be prevented or alleviated by conditions,” Franken wrote. The Minnesota democrat also said that the deal c...

Verizon Wireless products and services have been noticeably absent from RadioShack’s wireless portfolio, but that comes to an end this fall. The nationwide retailer on Tuesday announced an agreement that will finally see it begin to offer devices from the country’s top carrier on September 15th. At the same time, The Shack announced that it will stop selling T-Mobile products and services a day earlier on September 14th. Following the company’s second-quarter earnings report, which saw net income slide 53% from the same quarter last year, RadioShack stock climbed 7% on the news. “This is a substantial win for our customers, as this relationship with the nation’s largest wireless provider wil...

Customers sue AT&T to block T-Mobile acquisition
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesT-MobileAT&T
A handful of AT&T’s customers are now fighting against its planned acquisition of T-Mobile. Law firm Bursor & Fisher filed lawsuits against AT&T on behalf of 11 AT&T subscribers in an effort to block the merger, AllThingsD reported on Friday. The lawyers have created a pitch site titled FightTheMerger.com and argue that The Clayton Antitrust Act gives “anyone who may be affected by a proposed merger” the power to sue in a federal court. “Government enforcement is an important part of the antitrust laws, but the Clayton Act also permits private parties who may be adversely affected to challenge a proposed merger,” one of the lawyers, Scott Bursor, said. “That means any AT&T cellphone, data or...
