Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaRAZR
Online phone retailer Clove.co.uk has put the newly announced Motorola Razr, called the Motorola Droid Razr in the US, up for order on its website detailing that it will get a 1 November UK release.
“Following Motorola’s announcement of the Droid RAZR, we can confirm that we are expecting the UK variant, the Motorola RAZR, to arrive into stock on November 1st, priced at £379 (454.80 inc. VAT),” the site confirms.
At 7.1mm Motorola claims it to be the world's thinnest smartphone; "Impossibly thin" goes the tagline. It is also incredibly strong with a precision machined stainless steel core and laminated construction for enhanced rigidity, with woven kevlar fibre on the back.

Vodafone confirms Samsung Galaxy Nexus deal
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
Vodafone has contacted TechRadar to confirm that it will be stocking the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it goes on sale.
The new phone, which was announced at the launch of Google's new Ice Cream Sandwich OS, features a glut of top end technology, including a 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a whopping 4.65-inch screen with 720p resolution.
While we were hoping for a more top end spec-list, there's no doubting that this phone will be pushed towards the more expensive end of Vodafone's range, so expect to pay north of £30 per month on a two year deal.

Motorola DROID RAZR announced!
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID RAZR
Motorola today finally announced the hot smartphone we've been hearing about lately - the Motorola DROID RAZR for Verizon Wireless! But is there something to make this device special, besides its epic name? You bet!
The DROID RAZR seems to be the thinnest smartphone yet, at just 7.1mm - so we guess that makes it "razr thin" then. However, you should keep in mind that characteristic "hump" near the upper side, which houses the 8MP camera, capable of 1080p video recording. Other specifications of the device are pretty much what we expected - a 4.3" qHD screen of the Super AMOLED Advanced type, as well as a dual-core 1.2GHz processor. Obviously, Moto seems to have done some tremendous work with...

Motorola PHOTON 4G updated with Google Talk video chat, Lapdock support and more
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPHOTON 4G
Almost missed this… Sprint and Motorola released the update for the PHOTON 4G. Software version 45.3.6.enUS adds sooo much on the table, including Google Talk video chat, proximity sensor bug fix, enhancements of pictures taken in panorama mode, and the introduction of international roaming 3G UMTS hotspot functionality for a single Wi-Fi enabled device. In addition — and this is where it becomes really cool — the new update also brings support for Lapdock 100, you know that Motorola accessory that effectively turns your PHOTON 4G (and few other compatible smartphones) into a laptop computer. Now that’s I’m thinking, the only reason I would grab a Motorola smartphone today is to be able to u...

Samsung: the LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus will be 'a little' thicker
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGoogleGALAXY Nexus
We got it straight from the horse's mouth here at Samsung and Google's Galaxy Nexus launch event that the future LTE edition of the Galaxy Nexus will indeed be thicker than the HSPA+ model showcased today (and above). How much thicker? "A little," according to a company representative, but he wouldn't go so far as to talk millimeters. When asked if the additional size was there to hold the LTE package or just a larger battery, he also failed to elaborate. We'd be shocked if the LTE variant doesn't pack at least a bit more juice -- we've covered the damage that LTE does to a battery in great detail here -- but frankly, we'd rather have something a wee bit thicker than a phone that dies after ...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus camera and 1080p video samples
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGoogleGALAXY Nexus
Wondering what the 5 megapixel sensor within the Galaxy Nexus is capable of? So were we. We didn't have a huge variety of subjects to photograph here in our meeting room, but we ran about and captured as many as we could just for a quick comparison. As promised, snapping multiple pictures in a row was a cinch, with the camera taking just a fraction of a second before being ready to shoot again. In fact, we couldn't even tap the screen fast enough to find its limit. We have to say, though -- the built-in "Edit" menu could stand to be stronger. The "effects" were thoroughly underwhelming, and Instagram addicts will find plenty to laugh about. The croping and twisting, however, is appreciated. ...

Nokia 800 to only cost 499 Euro
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIA800
Plaffo has heard from trusted sources that the upcoming Nokia 800/Searay will be retailing for only 499 Euro (around £436/$682). This is of course much cheaper than HTC’s flagship, the HTC Titan, and as can be seen in the far right column of the price list above cheaper than many other handsets also.
In fact the earlier leaked price list above corroborates the rumour. Plaffo notes the right column is arranged from high to low, and the Blackberry Bold above seems to be 499 Euro also, and the one below 429 Euro.
We are of course expecting the handset to be announced next week, and the phones to be available across the major countries in Europe in the first week of November.

HTC, Sharp, and ZTE planning NFC smartphones
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSHARPHTCZTE
HTC has been coy about adding NFC to its smartphones to date, but that could all be about to change after the company, along with Sharp and ZTE, announced that it is joining the NFC forum.
The NFC Forum, the non-profit industry association that advances the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, has confirmed that Barclaycard has also joined.
While that isn’t a pre-requisite for including the technology in the latest and greatest phones, it is one of the first steps to taking the technology seriously.
The three are a handful of the 26 new companies to join the forum that works in a similar way to the Blu-ray Disc Association.
"Our newest members demonstrate the broad appeal of the...

Some iPhone 4S owners reporting screen quality issues
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Some iPhone 4S buyers are reporting problems with subpar screens, Apple's support forums indicate. When issues are present, the overriding complaint is of a yellow tint, especially notable when a 4 and 4S are compared side-by-side. People are also upset, however, at problems with poor contrast and/or washed-out colors.
The issue may mark the return of a problem that affected the iPhone 4 early into its lifecycle. At the time devices were being shipped so quickly after assembly that screens continued to show signs of a yellow adhesive. The residue would eventually disappear though, leaving behind normal phones.
