QWERTY-loving fans of the Droid series probably won't have to feel left out of the LTE party for much longer, as Droid-Life has uncovered some official-looking pictures and even a comparison chart of the upcoming Droid 4 and the rest of the line. The specs reveal it shares almost everything with the Droid RAZR, with the exceptions being a slightly smaller 4-inch qHD screen, ditching the Kevlar backing, and tossing in the aforementioned 5-row "edge-lit" keyboard. Hit the source link to view a more pics and the chart, which explains how we've gone from the Droid 2 last year, to the Droid 3 just a few months ago, to the Droid 4 / RAZR combo attack Motorola and Verizon could be unleashing as soo...

HTC Titan sold out on AT&T
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesHTCAT&TTitan
It may have been a mistake to sell the HTC Titan for only 1c yesterday, as it seems the gigantic handset has proven so popular that it is now temporarily out of stock on AT&T.
The handset was already in short supply even before the promotion, and many users had difficulty taking advantage of the deal.
Hopefully Microsoft convinced AT&T to order a good supply, and the shortage is an indication of popularity and not just low stock.
Are any of our readers having difficulty getting their hands on an HTC Titan? Let us know below.

Samsung Galaxy S II LTE arrives in Japan, NTT DoCoMo offers up its first course of 4G phones
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGalaxy S II LTE
Japan has got its first taste of an LTE smartphone, and this one's Galaxy-flavored. Oh yes, Samsung's Galaxy S II LTE has made an appearance on NTT DoCoMo, running on the Japanese carrier's next-generation Xi network and promising top download speeds of around 37.5Mbps. The latest member to the carrier's top-drawer Next series will set you back around $260 (¥20,000) on a two-year contract. DoCoMo is aiming to reach the hands of 30 million customers by 2015, with another as-yet unnamed several more 4G devices already penned for release before the end of the year. Perhaps the pair of data-loving handsets will help to fill that iPhone-shaped hole in the carrier's phone catalog.

Cricket unveils ZTE Chorus, its third Muve Music smartphone
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesZTEChorus
We're not saying much, but a little bird told us about this travesty months and months ago. Now, it seems that Cricket is ready to act on its plans, and well, here's the ZTE Chorus. It's certainly a handsome device, but sadly, there's not a whole lot going on underneath the hood. It combines a 3.2-inch 400 x 240 (WQVGA) resistive touch display with a 600MHz CPU, a 2 megapixel camera and a 1000mAh battery. Seeking redemption, the Chorus is the third smartphone in Cricket's stable to offer Muve Music access, and its $40 price tag (after some hefty rebates) is nothing to sneeze at, but really, even without contract, don't saddle yourselves down with this one, folks. The Samsung Vitality is a mu...

Verizon Galaxy Nexus spotted at $199 in canceled promotion
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungGALAXY Nexus
Verizon customers waiting for the Galaxy Nexus will be intrigued by the latest advertisement making the rounds. A Netshelter ad appearing at various blogs suggests the Galaxy Nexus will debut for a reasonable $199. This is $50 less than the launch prices of comparable 4G Android handsets on Verizon and a $100 less than the Nexus’ $299 price tag. This may be the case of an ad hitting the airwaves too soon, but it is likely an ad for a Black Friday deal that never materialized.
The ad contains a link with a November 29 date in the URL. The link will also bring you to Verizon’s holiday website. The page is filled with deals on other Android and 4G phones, but noticeably absent is the Galaxy Ne...

Droid 4 launch to coincide with Galaxy Nexus in US?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungMotorolaGALAXY NexusDROID 4
Motorola's much anticipated Droid 4 is set to launch the same day as Samsung's Galaxy Nexus phone. A Verizon document points to a 8 December arrival for the new phone.
The launch date hasn't been totally confirmed for the new device and it is important to remember that the Galaxy Nexus isn't set in stone either.
More exciting however is the spec sheet listed on droid-life.com, which shows off what the Droid 4 is going to be capable. A 4 inch super AMOLED display, Razr looks and backlit 5 row keyboard are just the start of this feature packed handset. Moto has always performed with its Droid handsets and this Gingerbread powered release will likely be the same. The 1080p capable cam on the b...

BlackBerry Curve 9380 hits the FCC, talking the T-Mobile talk
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesRIM BlackBerryT-MobileCurve 9380
RIM's first all-screen Curve has sashayed over to the FCC. Two models of the BlackBerry Curve 9380, the REA70UW and REB70UW, are included in the latest filing, which goes into typical laborious detail on radio frequencies and the like. Thankfully, those myriad charts and graphs reveal support for WCDMA band IV, meaning that the phone plays nice with T-Mobile's 3G network. Let's just hope that, if given the chance to strut its stuff in the US market, it follows the Curve family tradition of arriving keenly priced. We'll have to wait and see if it hits our wallet's sweet spot, but for those more interested in the phone's internals, the source link beckons below.

Nokia planning two Lumia 800 software updates to address battery issues

The Lumia 800, much like the Galaxy Nexus, has had a bit of a bumpy ride in its first few days on sale. The company has today announced it'll deliver two software updates, one in early December and one in early January, both of which will aim to improve power efficiency and battery life. iPhone 4S is already second most popular cameraphone on Flickr
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesAppleiPhone 4s
Six weeks after it hit the market, iPhone 4S has quickly risen to fame on Flickr. It’s now the second-most popular cameraphone on the photo-sharing site. The iPhone 4 reigns as the top cameraphone for now, but it’s safe to assume the iPhone 4S will take over eventually. The iPhone 4 is also the most popular camera overall, so that means the iPhone 4S would claim that title as well.
I don’t think the folks at Apple are losing too much sleep about the competition, though. The third most popular cameraphone on Flickr is the iPhone 3G from 2008 and behind that is the now-free iPhone 3GS. The only non-Apple product that made the top tier of cameraphones is the HTC Evo 4G, which is steadily mainta...

China passes U.S. in smartphones shipped for Q3
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell Phones
According to a new study by Strategy Analytics, China surpassed the U.S. in smartphone shipments in Q3 2011, making it the world's largest smartphone market by volume for the first time.
Strategy Analytics' report says that 23.9 million smartphones were shipped to China in Q3, edging out the 23.3 million that went to the U.S. There are significant differences between the two markets, obviously, as the largest provider of smartphones in China was Nokia, with 6.8 million units shipped (28.5 percent of the market). In the U.S., Apple and HTC were the top dogs, with HTC shipping 5.6 million units and Apple delivering 4.8 million.

LG Optimus One for Republic Wireless has features borrowed from CyanogenMod
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus One
The first group of Beta testers have been testing the specially outfitted LG Optimus One that Republic Wireless requires customers of its $19 a month unlimited service to use. As we reported, the carrier uses Wi-Fi to connect calls, send texts and to download and upload data with Sprint's 3G pipeline as a backup, and service started November 8th. One of the beta testers who just received her phone has recorded an unboxing of the handset.
While much of the UI is stock Android, some features such as the lock screen, almost look like they have been taken from CyanogenMod. Also added are quick setting toggles in the notification bar. Outside of those two things, the rest of the phone has pretty...

Android 2.3 Gingerbread update headed to Samsung DROID Charge "soon"
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsSamsungGoogleAndroid 2.3Droid Charge
Verizon Wireless has revealed that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung DROID Charge smartphone will be released in the near future, or "soon" as the carrier puts it. The update will add security fixes and performance enhancements along with all of the other goodies that come with Android 2.3. Verizon typically rolls these updates out slowly, so users will have to sit back and wait for the notification on their phones alerting them that the update is ready to download and install.
