BlackBerry Curve 9310 / 9320 turns up at FCC, fails to keep a low profile

BlackBerry Curve 9310 / 9320 turns up at FCC, fails to keep a low profile

Posted on May 30, 2012 by MG3

FCC docs can, from time to time, turn up some welcome device surprises. Not so in this recent RIM filing, as we're treated to yet another in a long line of leaks for the company's Curve 9310 / 9320. The BB OS 7.1 handset, bearing the FCC IDs L6AREY20CW and L6ARFD30CW, has already made several appearances around the globe, preparing for a low-end market berth in Australia, India, Vietnam and the UK. So, aside from RF testing data indicating WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth radios, our familiarity with the phone's specs come from its prior in-the-wild jaunts. Should a single-core processor, 512MB RAM, 3.2-megapixel camera and hardware QWERTY tickle your mobile fancy, then by all means click on the sou...

BlackBerry Curve 9320 now official: BB OS 7.1, 2.44-inch display, BBM button

Posted on May 09, 2012 by MG1

The 9320 has visited more countries during its short gestation than some phones get to see in their whole lives, but it's finally arrived. The specs are pretty much what we guessed, with the socially-focused BB OS 7.1 onboard, a 3.2-megapixel camera and typical Curve features like a 2.44-inch 320 x 240 non-touch LCD display, 'super charged' 1450mAh battery, FM radio and a small, lightweight 103 gram QWERTY form factor. Same specs, different day, but then there's also microSD expandability beyond the 512MB of eMMC, which can't be taken for granted, plus a new feature in the form of a dedicated BBM key on the side. As for the 9320's cheaper sibling, the 9220 shown above, we've already been han...

RIM launches BlackBerry Mobile Fusion

RIM launches BlackBerry Mobile Fusion

Posted on Apr 04, 2012 by MG3

RIM announced BlackBerry Mobile Fusion last November, a new enterprise service that will allow companies to manage multiple types of devices from a single, web-based interface, and the company says the service will launch today. The service can manage smartphones running BlackBerry 7 or earlier, PlayBook tablets, and tablets and smartphones running Android and iOS. RIM says that Mobile Fusion will allow IT managers to activate and configure devices and profiles for various phones, enable access to enterprise services, deploy apps, and detect jailbreaks and roots. RIM hasn't traditionally provided much support for competing devices over the years, but Mobile Fusion is probably a necessary con...

Image of BlackBerry 10 leaked

Posted on Feb 01, 2012 by MG1

Avid BlackBerry fans out there have probably been keeping their eyes on rumors surrounding the potential upcoming London device and BlackBerry 10. We’ve previously reported that this release is expected to occur sometime in September 2012.
CrackBerry has gotten their hands on a presentation slide that references ‘London’ with a list of features and most interestingly, a photo of a device running BlackBerry 10. The most notable aspect of this picture is that the phone depicted is very different looking than the previously leaked photo of the London.
The photo of the first prototype had angled edges and silver accents reminiscent of the BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9981, whereas this device loo...

Verizon launches BlackBerry Curve 9370

Posted on Jan 10, 2012 by MG1

If all the Windows Phone and Android news isn't really striking your fancy and iPhones hold no appeal then, perhaps, your interest will be piqued by the BlackBerry Curve 9370 which was just announced. Verizon unveiled the latest budget-friendly RIM device for CES and it doesn't depart too much from the QWERTY, candybar mold. In addition to CDMA radios it's also got GSM for globetrotters and NFC for those that want to hop on the next wave of mobile payment tech. Around the back is a 5-megapixel camera, probably not capable of shooting 1080p. The 9370 will run you $99 with a two year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. And, most importantly, it'll be upgradeable to BlackBerry OS 7.1 -- the mo...

RIM now working on only one BlackBerry 10 smartphone; Colt, Milan cancelled

RIM now working on only one BlackBerry 10 smartphone; Colt, Milan cancelled

Posted on Jan 05, 2012 by MG3

We already reported that the BlackBerry Colt — the handset that was originally intended to be the Research In Motion’s first BlackBerry 10 smartphone — has been cancelled. In addition, we have heard from multiple sources that the BlackBerry Milan that leaked last month was in fact was never a QNX smartphone, but a BlackBerry 7 device with a slightly different design identity. Regardless, the Milan has been cancelled as well. We’re told carriers balked at the idea of carrying a BlackBerry 7 phone so similar to the BlackBerry Torch at this point in time.

Foursquare version 3.5 for BlackBerry features lists, in-line photos, and more

Posted on Dec 21, 2011 by MG15

Even though it might seem as though the Foursquare app for BlackBerry might be lagging behind its contemporaries on other platforms, it’s nonetheless getting updated bringing forth some much-wanted new features.

Moving up to version 3.5, the latest software update for the Foursquare app hosts a few new features that some will find tantalizing, but more importantly, it’s simply ever so nice seeing the app getting its fair share of love. Specifically, it now boasts the popular Lists feature, which allows users to discover and creates lists of things to – whether it be nearby or elsewhere. Additionally, it now offer in-line photos that enables you to see your fiends’ check-ins with photos att...

BlackBerry Curve 9360 gets mobile hotspot thanks to leaked OS 7.1

BlackBerry Curve 9360 gets mobile hotspot thanks to leaked OS 7.1

Posted on Dec 16, 2011 by MG1

Following closely with recent leaks for the Bold 9900 and Torch 9810, the entry-level BlackBerry Curve 9360 now has a leaked operating system upgrade which will enable mobile hotspot functions.
BlackBerry users have been waiting for this function for a long time, and even now seems a little late to the party, what with BlackBerry 10 right around the corner. It would be entirely laughable if RIM managed to launch their new platform without mobile hotspot, but given how they’ve been slogging on bringing new PlayBook functions to market, I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if there were a few function gaps in RIM’s next-gen smartphones.
