Notion Ink releases Adam ICS Beta ROM, but it's a bit raw

Notion Ink releases Adam ICS Beta ROM, but it's a bit raw

Posted on Feb 20, 2012 by MG1

Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shravan has been keeping everyone up to speed on the development process for the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Notion Ink Adam tablet, and today marks a pretty big day in that process. Just before the new year, Rohan showed off a pre-Alpha build of the Android 4.0 update, but today brought the beta release of the ROM.
The development seems to have come along fairly well, and the team now has confirmed that 3G is now working, as well as graphics acceleration, YouTube HD, and USB. The beta ROM also fixes the sleep bug, and improves WiFi and sound compared to earlier releases. That said, it is still a beta, so not everything is working. The camera still doesn't work, n...

Notion Ink explains picking TI over NVIDIA for Adam II | Electronista

Notion Ink explains picking TI over NVIDIA for Adam II | Electronista

Notion Ink CEO Rohan Shraven has taken the unusual step of explaining why his Android-based tablet company opted to follow its NVIDIA Tegra 2-powered Adam tablet with a TI OMAP 4 processor for its Adam II . Rather than plumping for the quad-core Tegra 3, Shraven argues that the TI OMAP platform offers Notion Ink certain advantages. As a small vendor, with its limited software and hardware engineering resources, it believed that it could not leverage the NVIDIA Tegra 3 as well as it can the TI OMAP 4, leading to a better implementation for end users.

Notion Ink Adam II announced - Not many take notice

It’s been a while since we’ve heard the name Notion Ink being thrown around but it’s resurfaced with the promise of the Adam II. No real details for the upcoming tablet have been released, other than the fact that the Indian company has partnered with Texas Instruments to run the show and that the device will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Before the original Adam was released, I was very intrigued by the tablet’s capabilities and wanted one as soon as I could get Notion Ink to take my money. Then we saw the unique custom user interface, Eden. The UI looked promising but it ended up being quite the mess. That, and other issues with updates that caused the tablet to brick itself ju...

Notion Ink releases ICS Alpha update for Adam tablet, teases new device

Notion Ink releases ICS Alpha update for Adam tablet, teases new device

Posted on Jan 17, 2012 by MG15

We had mixed feelings about Notion Ink's Adam slate when it debuted last year, but if you're one of the converts who took one home, then it looks like your faith is being rewarded with an ICS update. Okay, it's only an alpha build, so not everything is working just yet -- that'd be the camera, 3G, USB storage and flash drive, oh and the light sensor. If these *cough* minor niggles don't phase you, the "upgrade" -- shown in the video after the break -- is yours for the taking. This isn't all that Notion Ink's been up to though, as it's also quietly teased a new device on its blog which it claims has been built almost entirely in-house this time round. Details are beyond sparse at this time, b...
