Ice Cream Sandwich ROM leaks for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY

Posted on Jan 11, 2012 by MG15

The official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY will not be out until later this spring, but if you are eager to have a taste of Google's latest and greatest, you can try out this early ICS ROM that just surfaced on the web, courtesy of the guys at XDA Developers. The ROM is based on Android 4.0.3 and retains most of the looks and feel of the stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience. Judging by what the folks are saying in the comments, albeit being an early build, the ROM is still stable enough to be taken for a quick spin. Of course, there are things that don't work yet, such as the smartphone's camera, the touchpads, and the Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, bu....

A GSM, 4G version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is now available from AT&T. The Sony PlayStation Certified phone will cost $49.99 with a signed 2-year contract, and without a contract the price is $399.99.

A 5MP camera captures video at 720p while the phone does come with a front-facing camera for video chat and self-portraits. Under the hood is an Adreno 205 GPU while Android 2.3.3 is pre-installed. Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play has made the natural GSM shift in the States in order to grace Ma Bell's airwaves, and despite the "4G" naming convention, this fellow will be topping out at HSPA+. In other words, LTE lovers will need to look elsewhere. This marks the first launch of a PlayStation-certified smartphone for AT&T, and given that it's been around the block a time or two, the carrier is (smartly) pricing it at just $49.99 on a two-year contract -- a buck-fifty less than what it launched for on Verizon Wireless. As we'd heard, it'll ship with Android 2.3.3, a 1GHz CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, a 4-inch display (854 x 480) and will arrive in ...

Sony Ericsson scores exclusive launch deal for FIFA 12

Posted on Aug 25, 2011 by MG15

Sony Ericsson proudly announced a limited time exclusive agreement with EA Mobile to deliver the much anticipated EA SPORTS FIFA 12 on Android. Obviously the game will be optimized for the Xperia PLAY, allowing players to use the smartphone’s gamepad instead of virtual on-screen controls.
Then, after that exclusive launch period ends (we’re most likely talking about weeks here), FIFA 12 will also be available on the “regular” Android Market.
