Google and Samsung on Tuesday announced a new Chromebook and Chromebox computer. Both machines are powered by Google’s cloud-based Chrome OS and are built for speed. Samsung’s newest Chromebook, the Series 5 550, features a 12.1-inch display, an Intel Core processor, 4GB of RAM, an HD Camera, two USB 2.0 ports and six hours of continuous battery life. The Chromebox resembles Apple’s Mac mini, and adds four additional USB 2.0 ports. Both come equipped with built-in dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Gigbit ethernet, however the Chromebook also has a 3G connectivity option. Samsung Launches Series 9 All-in-One PC

Samsung has released Series 9 All-in-One (or simply AIO), and more specifically the model that was released today carries a model number 900A7A. It adopts a similar design as Samsung's Series 7 T27B750 display, which we covered earlier. The most unique feature in Series 9 AIO is the support for 3D. We have seen several AIOs with 3D panels from Sony and HP, but the Series 9 seems to be the first 27" one.

Samsung's Chromebox Is Coming Mid-2012, But Who The Hell Is It Aimed At?

Since Sammy announced in early 2011 that it was planning to release a Chromebox, everybody forgot about the idea. Now the company has announced it's shipping mid-2012, but we're not sure it knows exactly who's going to buy it. The exact specs aren't final, but Engadget reports from CES that it definitely has a handful of ports, including five USB 2.0 sockets, DVI, DisplayPort and a headphone jack, and comes bundled with a wireless keyboard-and-mouse combo. It should cost in the region of $400, and ship sometime in the second quarter of 2012. But the big question is: who's it for?

Following the "very positive reception" to its sleek Series 9 notebooks in the U.S., the company is expanding its efforts with the introduction of their first all-in-one computer for this market. The Samsung Series 7 all-in-one will be available in two configurations, both of them featuring a 23-inch, 250-nit display with 1080p resolution and support for two-finger gestures through Samsung's surface acoustic wave (SAW) touch sensing technology.

While Michael Dell laughs it up on Twitter, a new report suggests that Samsung could be preparing to purchase Hewlett-Packard’s PC business, which the company revealed it may soon spin off. According to a new report from DigiTimes, Samsung may be eyeing a purchase of HP’s PC division, which would catapult the South Korea-based electronics giant past Dell and into the No. 1 PC vendor spot globally.
