Nokia claims N9 is 'the fastest image-capturing phone' yet
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
We've already established that the N9 is a delight of a phone, both inside and out, but our hands-on time with Nokia's new flagship gave us only a brief look at its camera performance. Now the company is graciously filling that gap in our knowledge with some further disclosure about its new 8 megapixel imager, including the lofty claim that the N9 is the fastest phone yet when it comes to capturing an image -- ousting the likes of the iPhone 4, the Galaxy S II, and even the Canon S95, perhaps the best pocket camera around at the moment.

Will the Nokia N9 end up in more than 23 countries?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
Last night's introduction of the MeeGo powered Nokia N9 set hearts aflutterin' in many countries, including the U.S. where the initial response was that the device is one sexy handset with the lack of any front-facing buttons at all. With the manufacturer having some problems competing in the U.S. and dropping from its perch as the largest smartphone manufacturer Stateside-a position it had held for the last 14 years-to number three, a launch of the N9 in the U.S. is of vital importance to the manufacturer.

Nokia Now Believes First WP7 Handset Will Launch this Year
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsMicrosoftNOKIAWindows Phone 7
Speaking at an event in Singapore today, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said the company is on track to release its first Windows Phone 7 handset by the end of the year. Elop said, "I have increased confidence that we will launch our first device based on the Windows platform later this year and we will ship our product in volume in 2012." Nokia has previously been more ambivalent about the launch of its WP7 handsets. Nokia also said that it plans to launch as many as 10 new Symbian handsets during the next 12 months. Nokia is replacing Symbian with Windows Phone 7 as its primary smartphone platform moving forward.

Free Nokia Maps Headed to S40, Anna Arrives in July
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIA
At an event in Singapore today, Nokia announced that its Series 40 handsets will come pre-loaded with Nokia Maps. Nokia Maps for Series 40 uses cell tower triangulation to locate the phone, and Nokia says it is still able to provide turn-by-turn navigation even without GPS. Nokia Maps for Series 40 will first be available to the C2-03 and will ship with local maps installed. Additional maps can be downloaded over the air. In addition to the maps announcement, Nokia also said that starting in July, the Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 will ship with the Anna update to its Symbian platform.

Nokia N9 Gets First Press Shots Leaked
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
The Nokia N9 is getting ready for its debut tomorrow at the CommunicAsia 2011 event in Singapore and we already know that it may be the “Lannku” that’s been rumored to be a slimline, all-touch device, instead of the QWERTY slider we’ve seen in previous leaks. And if you’re eager to see what this new Meego device looks like, then be happy to know the very first press shots have just leaked.
As you can see, it is clearly different from the aluminum slider we had anticipated. This new Meego device takes on a form factor that’s reminiscent of an iPod nano along with colorful options to boot. Other specs and details on the phone are still scant, but for a phone that’s been relegated mainly for th...

Is This The Device Nokia Is Announcing Tomorrow?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesNOKIAN9
Nokia’s all set to announce something at the CommunicAsia expo in Singapore, and all signs are saying that it’s the MeeGo-powered N9. The N9 has shape-shifted a few times in its laps around the rumor mill, having started life as a QWERTY-slider and, as shown in this leaked press shot acquired by PocketNow, eventually ending up as a lil’ slab-o-glass. No word yet on any sort of specs or details beyond what’s pictured, though it’ll also come in baby blue and black hues for anyone not down with the Salmony-pink.
What’s that, you say? You thought Nokia was done with MeeGo, and was all about Windows Phone 7 now? You’re mostly right. From what Nokia VP of Product Marketing Ilari Nurmi is saying, N...

If you are itching to get your hands on the latest in Nokia's venerable E-series line of business smartphones, the E6, then it looks like your best bet is to head to Amazon. The e-tailer has listed the Symbian Anna packing handset for pre-order for $446. Of course, at that price you get an unlocked smartphone without any obligations or ties to a carrier. Still, unless you are a die-hard Symbian nut, there might be better places to spend your hard-earned money.
