Android 4.0 Includes Stylus Support
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsGoogleAndroid 4.0
One of the less reported features in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is going to be big for a certain subgroup of users. The new OS will support stylus input at the system level with features like pressure sensitivity, hover tracking, and detection of pen versus finger touch events. This should streamline implementation of this feature for OEMs, which seem to be chomping at the bit to roll it out.

Sony HMZ-T1 3D OLED HMD ships Monday, Pre-Order Now for $799.99
Like UnlikeThe Sony HMZ-T1 is a personal 3D viewer with HD resolution (1,280x720px) delivered through two newly developed 0.7-inch OLED panels. The Sony HMZ-T1 marks the first HMD marketed to consumers since the last wave in the early nineties. Will the HMZ-T1 make HMDs mainstream? I have my doubts. Even if the visual experience is awesome, the HMZ still looks very bulky. Sony tried its best to make it look cool, but it is massive. Back in the nineties the experience using an HMD with headtracking was already awesome, but wearing the bulky devices was a pain. Oh, and do not expect to use the HMZ-T1 on the go. This HMD comes with a big setop box that needs to be connected to your home theater setup.

Microsoft talks Windows 8 portrait mode, really wants you to be proud of it
Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsMicrosoftWindows 8
If Apple is that paranoid friend that has four deadbolts on his door and a loaded weapon in every room, then Microsoft is the over-sharer who tweets where, when and what he had for lunch -- including both before and after photos (and we're not talking about pictures of a clean plate). Redmond wants you to know about everything it does -- no accomplishment is too minor for a lengthy explanation of the what and why. Take for example, portrait mode. Windows 8 will have one. We know what you're thinking, "well I would frackin' hope so," but the devs want you to know this isn't just some feature they slapped in the OS knowing people would expect it. The team studied users both familiar with and n...

Report: Don't Expect Ivy Bridge Before March
Like UnlikeFiled in: CPUIntel
Intel’s spiffy Sandy Bridge processors haven’t even been available for a year yet, and already their doomsday clock is ticking. Ivy Bridge, the slimmer, trimmer 22nm next generation version of Intel’s 32nm Sandy Bridge processors, are barreling down fast. So fast, in fact, that you can already pick up motherboards built to accommodate Ivy Bridge’s PCIe 3.0 support. But when is Ivy Bridge actually going to hit? Intel will only say “Early 2012,” but one source claims to know a more specific time frame.

Hulu Plus coming to 3DS and Wii, handheld getting 3D video capture

Rejoice Nintendo fans, Hulu Plus is coming to your console of choice... provided you're up on the latest in Nintendo hardware. Both the Wii and 3DS will be getting access to the streaming service's vast archives of TV shows and movies some time before the year is out. Though, you shouldn't expect to see the Galactica popping out of your portable -- this is a strictly 2D affair. A software update coming at the end of November will also deliver the ability to record 3D video with the Nintendo handheld (up to ten minutes) or even stitch together stereoscopic images for stop motion animation that jumps out of the tiny screen at you. With both Hulu and Netflix in tow, as well as the ability to cr...

PlayStation Certified coming to non-Sony devices
Like UnlikeSony's Kaz Hirai has insisted that the 'PlayStation certified' project is not just for the company's own products, with other devices likely to soon sport the certification.
Currently only three Sony devices, the company's two tablets and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play phone, have carried the PlayStation Certified branding.
However, Hirai insists that this is not a deliberate attempt by the company to lock one of its brands into only its own products, and is keen to see other devices bringing new games revenue streams into the company.
