LG, Samsung and Sharp will provide Retina displays for Apple’s iPad 3, DigiTimes reported on Tuesday. In mid-July, rumors surfaced that Apple was testing Retina displays from Samsung and LG, and those rumors were confirmed days later when LG’s CEO said Apple will use its Retina LCDs in its next-generation iPad. Apple is also reportedly considering an investment of as much as $1 billion in a new Sharp factory that will be used to provide screens for its iPhone and iPad products. LG P220 ultraportable specs and shipping date revealed, still no price tag
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksLGXNOTE P220-SE50K
We didn't have a great deal of info about this ultraportable when we went hands-on at Computex 2011, but we knew we liked its thin bezel and Air-like (though plastic) design. LG has now revealed the final specs and also announced it'll launch the P220 in Korea this month and in Europe shortly afterwards. The Core i7 that powered the model we saw previously has been switched out for a Core i5, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to have done a great deal for battery life, which LG says is around the 5.5-hour mark. In terms of ports, there's nothing faster than USB 2.0, and the color range will put some people off too: white pearl, pink pearl or blue pearl, and definitely no lobster red.

Like UnlikeFiled in: Operating SystemsTabletsLGT-MobileGoogleG-SlateAndroid 3.1
The T-Mobile G-Slate is catching up with the Joneses, that is if the Joneses are the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Motorola XOOM, as it is now being updated to Android 3.1 Honeycomb. The update adds Google Videos support, resizable widgets, USB accessory support, and an expanded recent apps list. T-Mobile is rolling out the update in a staggered fashion, and users should get a notification when it is ready to be downloaded and installed. T-Mobile makes a point to say that it cannot expedite the rollout of the update, so if you don't get it right away, you will just have to be patient and wait it out.

Apple will turn to Samsung and Chimei Innolux to supply display panels for its iPad 2 after LG’s panels failed to meet Apple’s quality requirements. The quality issues with LG’s displays forced the company to miss its July monthly shipment goal by 1 million units, DigiTimes said.
