LG Chrome OS device could be in pipeline

LG’s Chromebook plans have apparently been outed, with Microsoft revealing the company is working on – or at least considering – using Google’s Chrome OS platform to create a cloud-loving notebook. The fast-booting OS was mentioned alongside Android in Microsoft’s triumphant patent announcement earlier, in which the software company said the new agreement covers “LG’s tablets, mobile phones and other consumer devices running the Android or Chrome OS Platform.”

LG on Monday unveiled a familiar looking laptop that falls into Intel’s much-touted new ultrabook category, the Xnote Z330. With the shape of a MacBook Air and the color scheme of a MacBook Pro, the LG Xnote Z330 is a 13.3-inch notebook that boots Windows 7 in less than 10 seconds thanks to “Rapid Start Technology.” The Z330 is even thinner that Apple’s MacBook Air at its thinnest point, and it weighs in at just 2.7 pounds. Spec highlights include a 1.6GHz Core i5 or a 1.7GHz Core i7 processor, a 120GB or 256GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, HD graphics, WiDi wireless display technology and an HDMI-out port. Battery life is rated at more than six hours, and the base model starts at just over $1,500 while ...

LG P220 ultraportable specs and shipping date revealed, still no price tag
Like UnlikeFiled in: NotebooksLGXNOTE P220-SE50K
We didn't have a great deal of info about this ultraportable when we went hands-on at Computex 2011, but we knew we liked its thin bezel and Air-like (though plastic) design. LG has now revealed the final specs and also announced it'll launch the P220 in Korea this month and in Europe shortly afterwards. The Core i7 that powered the model we saw previously has been switched out for a Core i5, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to have done a great deal for battery life, which LG says is around the 5.5-hour mark. In terms of ports, there's nothing faster than USB 2.0, and the color range will put some people off too: white pearl, pink pearl or blue pearl, and definitely no lobster red.

LG Display manufactures the current Retina Display found on Apple’s iPhone 4 handset. Earlier reports suggest Apple is preparing to launch an updated iPad in September alongside the iPhone 5.
