Droid Razr Maxx Official for January 26th for $299
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID RAZR MAXX
Verizon and Motorola turned some heads at CES 2012 when they announced an update to the just released Droid Razr, the Droid Razr Maxx. Verizon has finally cut short the waiting game and announced that the Maxx is out on January 26 for $299 on-contract. To the great annoyance of Razr owners, the Maxx brings some notable spec bumps, and sells for the same price users paid for the first Razr a few months ago.
The Droid Razr Maxx has 16GB of internal storage, as well as a massive boost in battery capacity to 3,300mAh. The original Razr rocked just a 1780mAh cell. Like the first Razr, the battery in the Maxx is non-removable and hidden behind a kevlar back. The trade off is that the Razr Maxx is...

Nokia Lumia 710, the mid-range smartphone from Nokia just got a significant price cut in India few days before. Sony ST25i 'Kumquat' Android smartphone possibly leaked
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSony Ericsson
Next month we’re sure to hear about the latest smartphones from several of the world’s largest phone makers during Mobile World Congress, however that hasn’t stopped a number of leaks from occurring ahead of the show. The latest is a possible image of what is presumed to be Sony’s upcoming ST25i “Kumquat” Android smartphone. Specs are still slim at this point and we’re a bit suspicious since it still features the “Sony Ericsson” branding, but this could easily be an early prototype since even the smartphones on display at CES featured the Sony Ericsson name. Sony recently announced it was purchasing Ericsson’s stake in the Sony Ericsson joint venture and its newest phones are now branded “So...

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSamsungVerizon WirelessGALAXY Nexus
So how would you like to win a Samsung GALAXY Nexus? Starting Tuesday at 10am and going through Friday, Verizon is holding a Twitter contest. Each day, there will be one winner of a brand spanking new Samsung GALAXY Nexus. The first thing you have to do is to follow @VerizonWireless on Twitter, Then, each day you are required to tweet Big Red with specific messages or photos.
On Tuesday, you need to tweet a photo of your funniest face to #GalaxyNexus4X4 using a third party photo tweeting service such as YFrog or Twitpic. On Wednesday, send a tweet to #GalaxyNexus4X4 containing two circles you would keep away from each other (for example, baristas and Samsung Galaxy S II owners). On Thursday,...

HTC Primo specs leaked; includes Android 4.0 and Beats Audio
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesOperating SystemsHTCGoogleAndroid 4.0One V
The new fad in Android models seems to be smaller form factors with mid-to high end specs. Just the other day, we told you about the Sony Ericsson Kumquat, which fits into this mold. Now, thanks to a tipster for Stuff, we see low to mid range specs allegedly heading for the HTC Primo. With a 3.7 inch Super AMOLED display strengthened by Gorilla Glass and a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm processor under the hood, the HTC Primo would have the muscles to get the job done. On board is 512MB of RAM and a 5MP camera on back that captures 720p video. The dual-shutter on the camera allows you to snap photos while taking video at the same time and the f/2.0 aperture should help you take decent pictures in l...

LG Optimus 3D 2 images leak
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus 3D
Images and specs of a new LG phone codenamed the “CX2″ were recently leaked. The phone is thought to possibly be the successor to the Optimus 3D and may be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona next month. Pocketnow, which leaked the image and specs, says the CX2 sports a dual-core Texas Instruments processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a NOVA display capable of displaying 3D content, a 5-megapixel camera capable of snapping 3D photos, 8GB of storage, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC and support for 21Mbps HSPA+ networks. The phone could launch as soon as this spring, but unfortunately the phone is said to run on Google’s older Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system rather than Ice ...

The folks at Samsung have dropped the white bomb on the United Kingdom today with an almost surprise release of the Samsung Galaxy Note in white. This device has been released in black back in November, but as you know, everyone likes to get their devices in pearl these days to match their winter hats and so forth. Users will be able to pick up their purchases exclusively from John Lewis on Oxford Street London starting on the 23rd of January.

LG X3 to be a 4.7 inch monster phone with NVIDIA Tegra 3
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesLGOptimus 4X HD
While it’s hard to say that CES 2012 was a dud in the mobile space, we’re patiently awaiting to see what Mobile World Congress will be offering us next month. We’re pretty sure that the Samsung Galaxy S III will be announced already and it looks like LG is packing some heat with the upcoming X3. Yes, this is all rumor for the time being but the render above is enough to get our attention.
This beastly device is said to sport a quad-core processor, presumably NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 SoC. We won’t be terribly alarmed if we see a handful of devices shipping with quad-core processors but given that LG launched the Optimus 2X with the Tegra 2 before anyone else (and got into the Guinness Book of World R...

Whited00r lets you install iOS 5 look-alike on old-gen iPhones and iPod Touches
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesPortable Media PlayersAppleiPhoneiPod touch 2geniPod touch
If you're still rockin' an ancient iPhone or iPod Touch and are fed up with friends teasing you at every chance with their new-style multitasking and reminder features, we've got some good news for you. A new software, dubbed Whited00r, will let you install portions of iOS 5 on the first two generations of the iPod Touch, iPhone 3G and even your O.G. iPhone. Whited00r accomplishes this by simply acting as a custom firmware -- à la CyanogenMod 9 on Android handsets. There are, however, a few traits that devs haven't been able to mimic, which include core services like the App Store (though, you can install apps via iTunes on your home machine), Notification Center and iCloud. So, for those of...

Motorola PHOTON 4G owners, Motorola wants you
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPHOTON 4G
Motorola is looking for 1,000 owners of the Motorola PHOTON 4G to take part in a "soak test" of a software update. As we've pointed out before, this is how Motorola can test an update with a limited number of devices involved just in case there is a problem that requires more work on the software. Also, those testing the update give the manufacturer another set of eyes and ears that might be able to find a bug that somehow slipped past Motorola's own testing.
It would be great for Motorola PHOTON 4G users if this update had to do with Ice Cream Sandwich, but that seems unlikely at this point in time. If you are interested in using your PHOTON 4G as a Guinea Pig, you need to be a member of th...

Canada’s TELUS is rolling out an OTA update for the HTC Desire HD, bringing the smartphone up to Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Aside from the “standard” features Gingerbread brings to the table such as improved copy/paste, UI refinements, improved power management and video calls support, there are some Desire HD specific stuff included, most notably the new version (3.0) of the HTC Sense UI. Moreover, there’s the HTC Watch app from where you can rent or buy the latest movies and shows, as well as a number of bug fixes under the hood that improve the stability of the device.
In a nutshell, the second you see that the new firmware is available, hit the update button and take it from there. Make ...

Apple wasn’t the only company with a New York City announcement today: Nike stopped off in the Big apple to announce the Nike+ Fuel Band, with help from minor sports icons like Lance Armstrong, Kevin Durant and Carmelita Jeter. The FuelBand takes the Nike+ data collection engine and expands it to a full day’s worth of activities, then combines it with a basic LED wristband for data reporting and interaction. Like previous versions of Nike+, the FuelBand can sync with an iPhone over Bluetooth or report straight back to your desktop computer via USB.

Verizon's Droid RAZR gets violet coat of paint, price tumbles to $200 on contract
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaVerizon WirelessDROID RAZR
Motorola has already unveiled the RAZR's bigger, battery-savvy brother, the Maxx, but it's not yet done with the original kevlar-skinned smartphone. Yes, the RAZR will get a color palette refresh for the new year, with Verizon readying a metallic purple edition for just under $200 -- that's a hundred bucks less than what Big Red hopes you'll lay down for the newer Maxx. Like its white and black siblings, it will shed the 16GB SD card that arrived with the first issue RAZR, leaving 16GB of built-in storage. You'll be able to ogle at that puce wafer-thin profile when it arrives on January 23rd. Verizon's self-congratulatory fanfare is after the break.
