Sony Xperia S heading to Canada
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSonyXperia S
Sony announced that the Xperia S will soon be available at its stores across Canada. Beginning April 17th, fans of the Japanese company will be able to get the unlocked device and use it on Rogers’ network. Unfortunately we don’t know the price and can only speculate how much this powerful smartphone will cost — if I had to guess, I would say it will sell for some $650.
Now that’s all cool to see Sony bringing its new smartphone(s) to Canada, but it seems they failed to reach an agreement with local carriers. Let’s face it – most people buy phones with a contract and in that sense (without a carrier deal) I doubt the Japanese giant will be able to move enough units. Moreover, although the Xp...

Sony Xperia S now has access to PlayStation store
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSonyXperia S
During this year's CES in Las Vegas, many smartphone fans became smitten with the Sony Xperia S. With that unique transparent strip about 10% up from the bottom of the phone, Sony has designed a unique handset that is the manufacturer's flagship model. When the phone was launched overseas, Sony did not have time to complete PlayStation support for the model, so those who purchased the Sony Xperia S up to now have had to live with a placeholder link instead of the real live PlayStation Store. But, as you might have guessed from the tone of this piece, things have now changed.
Starting on Tuesday, those who clicked on the app for the PS Store were taken to a web page where the storefront and t...

Sony Xperia S now shipping globally, Ion to join the world tour come summer
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSonyXperia S
Those of you that have been waiting to get your grubby paws on Sony's Xperia S are in luck, as Sony just confirmed during its keynote that it's started shipping globally, with the first units available at Sony's Barcelona store during MWC. Those with stellar memory will recall that's more concrete than its former Q1 suggestion. To recap, those taking the plunge will be privy to a 1280 x 720 4.3-inch display, a 1.5GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 12-megapixel camera all wrapped in a gorgeous shell -- albeit one that runs Gingerbread, with an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in due course. Additionally the electronics giant also confirmed the Xperia Ion will be available globally, however those interested ...

Sony Xperia S has PlayStation certification and 720p display, available this quarter
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSonyXperia S
One of Sony's inaugural batch of Sony-branded phones, the Xperia S is the device that had been rumored over the last few weeks as the Nozomi with a 4.3-inch 720p display. Today it's been officially announced, and the specs are designed to impress: besides the gap-free laminated Reality Display, the Xperia S features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 12-megapixel Exmor R camera sensor, NFC support, PlayStation certification, and a unique "transparent element" along the bottom that offsets the solid black face. On paper, the phone is quite similar to AT&T's Xperia Ion — also announced today — but it lacks the Ion's LTE support (a sign of its European focus) and uses a slightly smaller display.

Alleged Sony Ericsson Nozomi official render leaks
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesSony EricssonXperia S
From the confines of Chinese forums we found this little excerpt from what is claimed to be an official picture of the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. The side render coincides with what we've seen leaked in flesh and blood in the wild before, and confirms the phone is coming in white.
Granted, the image is very small, and the technical specifications are cut out, but you can still see the word "Dual" which would confirm once again that we might be having the first mutlicore Android handset from the company in the face of the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. Another proof is the 1920x1xxx line under the camera section, which would imply 1080p HD video capture that we usually associate with dual-core handsets.
