Ownership period: more than 1 year.

About one year ago I upgraded to this phone from a VX8700 (Steel Razor basically) and I was excited to have a smartphone. However, this phone has caused more trouble than it is worth. I have had it shut down at random times and have the screen stay on, while it was locked in my pocket.

I have attempted to get alternate OS and they haven't made the phone better at all. It is sad that I admitted that the original Iphone is better than this phone. I could not put apps on this phone due to its application memory constantly leaking. A big problem is that it will run out of memory and you will have difficulty making a phone call.

great phone

This was one the best phones i ever had, never had any problems with it, i believe all blackberries are good devices, the only ones who dont like them are people who just dont know how to use them. felt no need to upgrade to the storm 2 since, i didnt need the double memory or slightly better. The only problems i ever had with the phone was it would freeze sometimes and drop signal every once in a while, although it did these things it only did them with verizon "approved" software, any time i used a leaked software, or software from another carrier the phone worked flawlessly, with that said verizon should leave software to someone else cuz it takes them too long to approve a version of software and they never release a software that works good on any device!!! but vzw does have the best overall service!

Blackberry storm 9500

Ownership period: less than 1 year.

I wanted to like this phone. I used to own the LG Chocolate 2 and upgraded to this phone because at the time it was the "it" phone for Vzw customers.
From the start it was plagued with screen click and software issues. The software that launched with it would be unusable by todays standards but i made due at the time. Since there have been updates that have greatly improved the experience but the phone still pales in comparison to other phones. The app store is a joke, the browser makes me feel like the days of dial up (its that bad) even on Verizon's 3g. The camera is mediocre at best. Even simple tasks are difficult on this phone due to its archaic OS.
I would not recommend this phone today to anyone, there are finally many more better choices for verizon customers.
