RIM BlackBerry Storm 9500 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The latest BlackBerry is a slim but weighty touch-screen phone. It differs from other touch-screen handsets in that the entire screen is a big button - you can select items using touch alone, but they are activated only by clicking the screen. This is hard to get used to at first, and the fact that the screen wobbles from side to side when you slide your thumb across it is disconcerting. With no seal around the screen's edge, we're concerned that even a splash of liquid could have serious consequences.

As the first BlackBerry to feature a touchscreen the Storm is a very good device. You may need to spend a little time getting used to its touchscreen quirks, but the things that are likely to irritate long term are the lack of Wi-Fi, shortish battery life and dodgy accelerometer.

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

This 3G/HSDPA-enabled phone comes with 1GB of built-in memory, and is compatible with MicroSD cards. You don't get any additional storage with the phone as standard. There's no wi-fi functionality either for web-browsing over a home network. It does have A2DP stereo Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the standard headphones are slightly more bearable than those of the Apple iPhone. Video support includes MPEG4 and WMV files while support for audio files includes MP3, AAC+ and WMA.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Whether the Storm has done enough to topple the iPhone is very much in the balance. Performance is excellent: voice calls are clear, email is handled seamlessly and battery life is good for a push email HSDPA device. Add to that the potential of the upcoming Application Storefront and generally swish looks, and things appear rosy for RIM.

After testing the Blackberry Storm for two days, my initial thought was: what a disappointment! After years of launching the most modern and user-friendly corporate smartphones, Vodafone and RIM have completely missed the mark with the Storm. The operation is a nice invention but totally inconvenient. The phone responds too slowly to almost every command.

The first BlackBerry to sport a touchscreen (that’s more of a push-screen) has arrived. That’s right, the BlackBerry Storm. There’s a lot to like about the Storm and with every new form factor there’s also a lot to learn. That said, the Storm is a good looking device and has many features found on the BlackBerry Bold. If you want a slick looking touchscreen smartphone that has a solid media player, great MP3 player with the ability to save songs as ringtones free, and can handle its share of business applications, check it out.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

We certainly applaud RIM's effort in coming up with their first touchscreen device but all things considered, the Storm simply didn't match up to our expectations and its high profile status. We do suggest that you keep to your Bolds and Curves as they will cater to your huge messaging and text entry needs for better office productivity in contrast to the Storm. So with regards to the slogan, we pressed but, we were not impressed.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

At first glance, the Blackberry Storm 9500 looks very appealing. Even more when you start using it, but there are some functionality flaws that make the device not as good as expected. Being the first in a line could prove to be fatal for some devices, but the Storm 9500 makes a good overall impression, even if it has some drawbacks.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

It's not everyday that you see a BlackBerry review on our homepage but it's not like RIM routinely churn out devices like the Storm either. Messaging is still the legendary name but… well… touchscreen is the game. Keeping the business appeal of its siblings, the 9500 Storm sure stands out in the Berry crowd. But it also tries to set itself apart from the other touchscreens by promising a whole new touch experience.
