The new hotness these days is in manufacturers confirming that their Honeycomb tablets will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich treatment, and get it fast. Word has it that the Motorola XOOM will get the Android 4.0 update, and it looks like the Acer ICONIA TAB A100 and A500 will be getting the update in very early 2012.
Apparently, word leaked from Acer Poland that the ICONIA TAB A100/101 and A500/501 would not be getting the update this year, but users should expect the ICS treatment in mid-January 2012. This seems to match up with a lot of the other update announcements that we've heard from other companies, so although there has been no official announcement, there is also no reason to be...

Acer Iconia Tab A100 Released: The First 7-Inch Honeycomb Tablet
Like UnlikeFiled in: TabletsAcerICONIA TAB A100-07u08u
With today's introduction of the Acer Iconia Tab A100, the 7-inch Honeycomb tablet era begins. Vivek and Jarred looked at the new entrant's big brother, the 10.1" A500, and were left . . . well, a little underwhelmed. Some of their complaints are endemic of everything Honeycomb, so far: occasionally sluggish performance, potentially awkward form factor, bugginess. Some of their complaints, though, were fixed on Acer’s 10.1” tablet itself: questionable build quality, uncompetitive pricing, less than stellar viewing angles. So what does Acer’s diminutive tablet offer up?

Iconia Tab A100 will be available in August for $300

Acer has obviously put all of its resources on producing and marketing its 10.1-inch tablet, Iconia Tab A500, with its smaller brother getting delayed as a result. I guess we have the Apple iPad to blame for OEMs obsessing over 10-inch tablets rather than smaller models. To be fair Samsung’s first tablet was the 7-inch Galaxy Tab, which became pretty popular throughout the world.
Back to Acer – we’re glad to hear that their Iconia Tab A100 will finally be released in August with a suggested price tag of $300. That’s even lower than that leaked Walmart price we’ve seen at the end of June. Of course, this is the price of a Wi-Fi only model, and I guess the 3G-enable Iconia Tab A100 will cost a...

Elusive Acer Iconia Tab A100 coming to Walmart for $349

Typically, the whole fun of spotting products in the wild is that they haven't been officially announced to the world yet, but in the case of the Acer Iconia Tab A100, we're just amazed it's finally here, and that it's so... unassuming. Just weeks after rearing its head in FCC drawings, the delayed Tab has quietly surfaced at Walmart with a price tag of $349. That sticker there says it all, but for the money you'll get Tegra 2 innards with 8GB of internal storage, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5 megapixel one 'round the back. And of course, it runs Android 3.0 at a time when most other 7-inchers still tap out at Android 2.3 -- possibly the reason it was delayed in the first place....
