Canon PowerShot G10 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The G10 is a great camera, but it's spoiled by a needlessly high resolution that causes serious noise problems in all but the brightest conditions. It's not alone in this predicament, but as the G10 costs more than many SLR models that offer vastly superior image quality, we can't overlook it.

Despite some minor issues, it didn't take long for us to fall in love with this camera. You can pick up entry-level digital SLRs for roughly the same price, but the PowerShot G10 is more than capable of giving them a run for their money and is ideally suited to serious photographers looking for a decent compact camera.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

Following in the footsteps of a long and successful line of advanced cameras, the G10 had a lot to live up to. The bottom line in our opinion is that in spite of some minor imperfections, the latest PowerShot G camera proves to be a very well rounded package. In short, even in the face of high expectations, Canon delivered the goods with its latest flagship PowerShot.

reghardware‘s review Edit

Canon's PowerShot G10 is a polished, pocketable performer that offers a high degree of manual control, along with good performance and easy operation. Sure, it does some things better than others, but we think overall, it does an excellent job. The official price is high, but you can buy it for a lot less if you shop around.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Canon Powershot G10 is not cheap, but in my opinion it lives up to its price tag. It offers that bit extra all round when compared to other models. If you are serious about photography and would like a camera with SLR features, but without the bulk then take a very close look at this camera.

CrunchGear‘s review Edit

On the whole, however, I would recommend this camera for the amateur who wants to take some serious outdoor or posed/still shots. A DSLR is always better but this is considerably smaller than most DSLRs and it’s quite feature-packed.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot G10 is not without its faults: it’s slow at continuous shooting, there’s no HD video or HD outputs, and for the best image quality you’ll need to shoot at 80 ISO with the aperture wide open. Fans of earlier generations of the PowerShot G-series will also lament the continued absence of an f2.0 lens and flip-out screen.

The G10 is a fun and stylish camera, but its soft focus and low-light performance are disappointing.

The Canon PowerShot G10 is fun to use. Advanced features will appeal to pro users and casual users will appreciate hand-holding functions like scene modes and face detection. For those who don't mind carrying a bit of extra weight, the G10 is one powerful camera.

LetsGoDigital‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot G10 is a sibling of a long range of quality cameras. In fact, the PowerShot G camera's concept is enough for awhile although new functions are added to every new generation so as to justify the introduction of a new generation. It comes with an inevitable increase in the numbers of pixels and it is this increase that acts up more and more, which also became clear during the Canon PowerShot G10 review.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Canon G10 is an impressive photographic tool for the discriminating enthusiast. The switch to a wider-angle lens than the G9 makes the G10 more useful for more types of photography, yet the 140mm end still gets in reasonably close for tighter compositions.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The new Canon Powershot G10 carries on where the previous G9 model left off, further establishing the G-series as a realistic alternative to an entry-level DSLR camera, or backup compact for a pro user. Since dropping RAW mode completely on the G7, Canon have been scrambling to regain their core enthusiast audience, and the changes to the G10 will certainly help them achieve that. Perhaps the most important change is the new 28-140mm lens.

DP Review‘s review Edit

The G10 is a camera you don't want to put down once you have picked it up. It encourages users to take pictures, and turn the dials: to experiment and have fun. This is one heck of a fun camera to use. In the hand, it inspires confidence with solid construction and secure and comfortable hand grip. The G10 quickly becomes second nature to use, which is not something that can be said of many compacts.
