Fujifilm have confirmed that they will release a Leica M adapter for the new X-Pro 1. Speaking to journalists at an exclusive briefing, Fujifilm stated that the adapter will not be launched at next month’s CP+ photography show in Japan, but will be released by April this year. Leica lens owners looking for an alternative to the M9 should form an orderly queue…
Fujifilm have come up with a brand new category name for the X-Pro1 - “premium interchangeable lens camera” - which is claimed to be very different to a “conventional mirrorless camera”, hence the new name.

Leica Camera has unveiled a new firmware upgrade for its medium format S2 camera, FW 1.0.2.0.

The fifth firmware update for the camera, this is specially developed for the use of the camera with the new Leica Elmarit-S 30mm f/2.8 ASPH wide-angle lens, to ensure optimum functionality of the lens with the S2 body.

Registered Leica S2 users can upgrade their camera by downloading the firmware update from the Owners Area of the Leica website.

Leica has issued a new firmware upgrade for its M9 and M9-P full-frame digital rangefinder cameras.
Firmware update v. 1.176 fixes the issue several users had reported when using SanDick memory cards. According to a statement from the company, all card types available from SanDisk have been fully tested by the Leica expert technical team and the firmware guarantees full functionality.
The Leica M9 is the world's smallest full-frame interchangeable lens camera, while the M9-P, features the same internal specifications but also includes a sapphire crystal LCD screen with anti-reflective coating for improved visibility.

Leica has issued a firmware update for the Leica M9 digital rangefinder camera. Version 1.174 addresses a compatibility issue related to select types of new memory cards, which has caused some users to lose photos captured with the camera. Note that Leica still warns against using San Disk Extreme Pro SDHC I UHS-I and San Disk Extreme HD Video SDHC I memory cards in the M9, as “some misbehaviour occurred in the test phase” and “100% freedom from errors cannot yet be guaranteed with them”. The company stresses that other SanDisk cards have been found to work fine in cameras equipped with the latest firmware, which you can download from the website below.

Leica has announced a new Titanium 'Special Edition' version of the compact D-Lux 5 camera, which will be available from the end of the month.
The Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium comes with an anodised silver-grey finish and will be presented in a special set with a premium grey leather case with shoulder strap.
Equipped with the same specifications as the standard Leica D-Lux 5 model, the camera includes a 5.1-19.2mm f/2-3.3 ASPH zoom lens, which is an equivalent of 24-90mm in 35mm format.
The camera also features a 1/1.63 inch 10.1 million pixel CCD image sensor, which is larger than sensors found on many other compact cameras.

Leica has released a firmware update for the Leica M9 full-frame digital rangefinder camera. Enhancements in version 1.162 include an “improvement of the sensor homogeneity for wide-angle lenses”. There is an additional colour calibration for all wide-angle lenses, which minimises chromatic deviations between image centre and image corner, especially in critical shooting situations. Additionally, internal software processes have been optimised in order to improve overall system stability. You can download the update from the website below.

Pentax, Sony, Leica and Ricoh have released firmware updates for several of their cameras. Pentax has updated the firmware for its K-r, K-5 and 645D. Firmware v1.01 for all three cameras brings compatibility with the recently-announced 0-GPS module. Sony, meanwhile, has created updates for its NEX-3 and NEX-5, and SLT A33 and A55 models, adding many of the features of its forthcoming NEX-C3 and SLT A35 cameras. Leica has updated the firmware for its M9 digital rangefinder to improve color consistency across the frame when used with wide-angle lenses.
