Bought this phone on release day in November 2009. Can't believe I was able to keep organized before the Droid revolution. Especially with already being a huge google supporter, gmail beta tester back in the day, gcalendar etc. Droid brought all the google apps I used and synced them with 1 device.

Still one of the greatest phones I have ever owned

Created by XTheXChosenXOneX on May 14, 2010

Ownership period: less than 1 year.
The phone is still one of the greatest phones I have owned. Despite the new Droid Incredible coming out, its the first time I don't feel bad that my phoe is totally useless. With many other phones in the past when a similiar model comes out I would be begging for the new thing. As of right now I am happy. I have heard others complain about the charger cable, but really the USB/ charger combo is perfect for me. I don't need and 5ft charger only cable hanging all over the place....way to go Motorola....get out the low end phones....you need to only build this caliber of phone each time....Backflip? what the heck is that??

Dumped iPhone

Created by Gadgetwiz on Apr 15, 2010

For three years I had the iPhone and loved the phone interface but hated phone because of at&t. I bought the DROID few months back and it feels grt to have the powerful device with blazing fast 3g. With Droid I don't even look for wifi as 3g is amazing. At first I was not sure if DROID will meet my expectation but it went two steps ahead ....

So far so good. If it was not for the very flat keyboard (which is almost usless) this phone would be perfect. Android 2.0.1 is ok, but I am more partial to DroidMod1.0 overclocked to 1.2Ghz. She is a screamer..... I dont even need 2.1, this is the better option for me.

two weeks of love

Created by cellphonesareevil on Mar 14, 2010

Ownership period: less than a month.
I have had two weeks to play with my droid. I love my Droid. I woke up the first night to unplug it and play with it. " Mama has a droid."
It does take time to set up. My first smartphone I didn't know what to expect. It would have been easier with a manual. Why oh why do we not get a manual?
Looking things up online are helpful, but searching takes time. Luckily I only work 2 or 3 days a week. Gave me time to get it right before I went to work.
I am like a kid in a candy store with the apps. So far I have not paid for one. I have a few trial apps that I will probably get the full version of. So many things to explore.
I can see using this device as long as it is supported. Can you tell I am in love?

I just got my DROID and I love it. Couldn't be happier, finally a phone that is smart and easy to use. This and the other Android phones are going to change the way we use our smart phones. This phone is extremely interactive and easy to use. Love the keyboard, took a lil time to get used to but after that its been flawless.

the charging cords vzw sells do not work. i called moto and they said vzw's charging cords do not meet moto specs. as soon as N1 comes out, i'm getting that phone and telling everyone Droid Doesn't!

This phone is buggy at best and sluggish to beat the band! The hard keyboard flat out sucks. What a huge mistake i made!

Competition for the iphone

Created by redgrace on Feb 27, 2010

Ownership period: less than 3 months.
Verizon brought out the Storm to compete with the iPhone last year, and that was a flop. Now Big Red brings out the Droid, and after being out for a couple of months VZW has a winner. The processors keep the phone fast, the apps store has many choices, and it's only going to keep getting better with Google at the helm.
When first unboxing the Droid the phone felt heavy and square. But after having the phone for a few months it isn't that much heaver than the Blacberry Storms.
Great phone guys! (now let's see how the nexus one competes)

I've had this phone for a month now and I have to say I love it. I've had bad experiences with past Moto phones but I think they have finally turned the corner. Android is most likely the reason but under the hood this thing is fantastic. I just love everything about the way it's set up and how it works. Adding swype beta may just be the best thing about the phone at least from a texting/phone call standpoint.

Motorola DROID Now Preferred Phone

Created by Geolama on Feb 22, 2010

Ownership period: less than 1 year.
I have both an iPhone and a Motorola DROID. I have used Windows Mobile-based smartphones in the past and wanted something better. I won my iPhone in a contest and thought I would try it out. After had both for at least four months, I must say that the Android OS has definite advantages over iPhone OS: the primary things for me are: CDMA/EVDO coverage vs. EDGE/HSDPA coverage, the Notification bar and having pop-up menus.

Also I personally like having a physical keyboard as have fat fingers that make virtual keyboards a real pain for me to use.

On the negative side, speakerphone mode can have serious echo causing me to prefer a Bluetooth headset or a headphone/microphone combo. With the latest release of 2.0.1 I have trouble with Android OS reporting the battery is very low and must be turned off or plugged in for a charge. If I shut down the phone and restart it, the problem goes away.

I used to work for VZW and had a Droid loved it so much to say its probably the best phone I've ever used. I cycle through phones once every couple weeks. When I started working for T-Mobile I gave the DROID to my wife and got a MyTouch Fender Edition. She loves the phone as much as I did.

I Dropped my Droid Baby...

Created by JDBrockin on Feb 20, 2010

Haha, catchy title I know. For how bad it sounds this phone is quite the Beast. I was happy to read about the Gorrila Glass used from Corning. This screen is one of the toughest displays for a touch screen device I have used and have seen. I'm a tech that works for the big V, seen plenty of damaged devices. Especially touch screen phones. Can't say I have seen a Droid come back in since the launch of this phone with a shattered display. The weight alone of the phone gave me assurance this phone was manufactured well. Which with Motorola's history of "High Quality Manufacturing" I was sceptical. Needless to say, I LOVE THIS PHONE. Best phone I have carried on Verizon's network.

I rooted my phone and overclocked it to 1GHz, and it runs very smoothly, and the internet is blazing fast. people say the keyboard is too flat but i type very well with the physical keyboard.

In competition with the I phone and apple in general all apple products are preceded with an "I" well, for the droid i prefer to start it with "MY". This phone is one of the completely customizable phones or products in general that i have ever had. Everyone praises the good so i will tell you the not so good. The phone is ugly, no doubt about it. i can not get it to sync with windows 7 64 bit, but it will to my wifes vista 32. the camera (coming from a lg dare to droid) is lacking and camera features are non existent. Even with all these flaws it is a terrific device from a come from behind company and i am proud to own it and see peoples eyes lite up when i get a text "DROID"

I really love this phone. At first I was like i don't think I would like it since it is bigger and more square. but as I got use to it, it is Great!!! The screen is the best slide out keyboard is a bit flat but easy to use since I have nails. I had the Eris, but not satisfied. I've been pleased with the Droid. And I change phones quite a bit. I have the Droid since the day it was released and I have been very pleased overall. I have been using Android since it was available, I also pre-ordered the G1 back in 2008. The Droid is a very solid phone, hardware and software wise. Also, the improvements that came with android 2.0 have gone a long way in making it more consumer friendly.

The Android Project

Created by dunes09 on Feb 10, 2010

I pre-ordered this phone from my local BB thinking that it was going to go on backorder like the BB Storm 1. When I arrived at BB to pick it up there was no line at all. My cousin in the BB Mobile manager and he said they didn't sell that many at all (on launch date). They set my DROID up at the store and I was off...until I had to return to BB to have my DROID replaced because the proximity sensor didn't work. The phone freezes and reboots randomly and the keyboard is horrible! The camera is bad even though it's 5MP, the slider is great unless you want a plastic case on it then it doesn't slide well at all. I rarely slide it open to use the keyboard, they should of left it out when designing it. The Android OS is the only good thing about the phone!!! The Android OS is one of the most customizable OS's I've ever used!! There are a ton of apps and the interface is seemless! The MOTODROID hardware is not great at all...it's heavy and the battery cover falls off daily! Overall the MOTODROID hardware is horrible but the Android OS is awesome! The phone seems more like a project phone for the Android OS, seeing as they released the Nexus One with better features which the 2.1 update won't even have for the MOTODROID!

A good phone is the droid... though i do perfer the palm pre plus for many other reasons the droid is comparibly good... well till the nexus 1 comes out... Hmm to start... its free navigation is great and many apps are free and fun to use... It has a nice interface thoguh could be faster and the wifi is nice though im not sure if there is an application like on the palm pre plus where you can make a hotspot. It is super fast and i found call quality to be good... i also do like texting but the keyboard could use improvment like the virtual keyboard on the nexus one or palm pre plus... Overall its good but needs android 2.1 also... It also sadly does not run flash lite..

Created by ethorne on Feb 08, 2010

I have researched phones for years, just waiting to find one where I absolutely have to have it and where I am able to replace my dumb phone. So after two years of researching phones, I finally found the droid to be the phone for me. And what a good decision that was. I absolutely love it and have found everything to be perfect for customization. Although for someone not as tech savy as me or other people, it may be hard for them to learn how to use it perfectly as quickly as i did. However, i strongly recommend everyone to get it... they will not be regretful.
