When NVIDIA took the wraps off its family of 28nm Kepler GPUs, it promised some mobile chips designed for Ultrabooks were soon to follow. Two and a half months later, we haven't seen that many laptops running the 600M series, save for the Acer Aspire M5, which isn't even on sale yet. Now, though, we're about to see a lot more: in advance of Computex, a computer-centric trade show about to be overrun by Ultrabooks, NVIDIA is spilling details on the GeForce GTX 680M. As the top-tier offering in the mobile Kepler lineup, it packs a 720MHz engine clock, 1,344 CUDA cores and a 256-bit memory bus powering up to 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. Check out the KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 Hall of Fame (HOF) Edition. Overclockers UK listed the card for pre-order, it wil sell for £529.99, including VAT (US $854).
The card features an all customized PCB and cooling assembly on .. yep yep all white PCB. The card is locked and loaded with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface. The GPU is factory overclocked with a base core speed of 1202 MHz and the boost core speed is locked in at 1267 MHz.

If you've dropped the dough on a spiffy new enthusiast-level Sandy Bridge-E processor, you may decide to drop a corresponding level of dough on a spiffy new enthusiast-level Nvidia HTX 680 graphics card. (If so, we salute your Maximum-ness.) There's just one little caveat you should be aware of, however; Nvidia's initial WHQL drivers for the GTX 680 nerfs data transfer levels to slower PCI-E 2.0 speeds, rather than the blazing fast enthusiast-level PCI-E 3.0 x16 speeds the X79 chipset is capable of.
Hopefully it's just a short-term bump in the road due to software validation issues rather than a long-term hassle. Nvidia owns up to the slowed speeds on its specification page for the graphics ...

German PC liquid-cooling experts Aqua Computer launched the AquaGraFX GTX 680, the industry's first full-coverage water block for NVIDIA's newly-launched high-end graphics card. Its primary material is exposed-copper. The coolant channel not only passes through the central portion covering the GPU and memory, but also the tail portion, where heat is drawn from the VRM area of the graphics card.
At the portion that's right about the GPU, the coolant channel is densely ridged, to increase surface area of dissipation to the coolant. To top if off, Aqua Computer used a brushed metal cover. Nvidia's long-awaited move to 28nm technology is finally upon us today with the launch of the GeForce GTX 680. Billed as the most efficient GPU ever put together, the GTX 680 has a very reasonable power envelope of just 195W, breaking with the tradition of every new high-end graphics card requiring more power than the previous generation. That power figure is important for another reason: Nvidia no longer has a static clock speed for its graphics card.

While Nvidia's GeForce GTX 680 Kepler graphics card still hasn't gotten an official announcement from the company, we're seeing a flurry of price speculation in anticipation of the card's release. Computer chain NCIX has been spotted posting product pages for the card (both MSI and EVGA varieties), listing it at $579.99 and letting customers add it to their wish lists, though the pages have since been taken down. In addition to the price, the pages also indicated that the MSI card will be running at 1056Mhz and include 2GB of GDDR5 video memory clocked at 6GHz. NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 680 is certainly generating a lot of excitement, so much so that one AIB maker, MSI, has jumped the gun and put out a few PR goodies relating to the incoming card. Seen below, MSI's marketing materials show off the company's GTX 680 (which is based on NVIDIA's reference design), the new GEFORCE GTX logo, and some specs and features like the 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM, the 256-bit memory interface, the quad display outputs, the PCI-Express 3.0 support, and the ability to run four monitors (and a complete 3D Vision Surround setup) from a single card.
MSI's GeForce GTX 680 will also be fully supported by the company's Afterburner utility that's set to provide 'GPU/Memory Clock Offs...

Images and specifications of Nvidia's upcoming GeForce GTX 680 Kepler graphics card have cropped up early on a number of Chinese sites. The 680 will be Nvidia's first card built using a 28nm process and the company's answer to AMD's Radeon HD 7970. According to a leaked slide, the GPU will be clocked at 1,006MHz but will be able to temporarily increase its speed to 1,058MHz when necessary, which we assume will work in a similar way to Intel's Turbo Boost technology. The number of CUDA cores has been upped to 1,536 — a significant increase over previous generations — and 2GB of 256-bit GDDR5 RAM will be included.

Many reports on the web indicate that NVIDIA's GK104 will launch later this month as the GeForce GTX 680. The card reportedly offers 1536 CUDA cores and a 256-bit memory controller, the standard models will get 2GB GDDR5 memory but there will also be a variant with 4GB GDDR5.
For the first time since the introduction of GDDR5, NVIDIA's GPU will be able to drive GDDR5 memory higher than AMD, which created the memory standard.
