The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD debuted on AT&T early this year, and at the time it was rocking Android 2.3 as the operating system. Samsung has been slowly updating many of its smartphones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Skyrocket is one of the devices getting the update along with the regular S II and several other smartphones that already have it.
I’m sure there are more than a few users of the Skyrocket that worried they may not get ICS, but those fears are unwarranted. The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket was among the first LTE-enabled handsets on AT&T, and with its thin profile and dual-core chip, the only thing it was missing was... a white paint job. Well, at least that would have been nice and we can see how many would go for the white version. It seems that AT&T and Samsung also think this way, and the companies have announced that a white Skyrocket is landing on the carrier just in time for the holidays.
The pale Galaxy S II Skyrocket will arrive on the carrier on December 4th and is expected to retail for $249.99 with a contract, the same price as the original, dark version of the handset.

AT&T’s first two 4G LTE-enabled smartphones are now available for purchase, and subscribers looking to be among the first to own these powerful new Android devices are in for a pleasant surprise. Announced just last week, the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and HTC Vivid feature Google’s Android Gingerbread OS and specs that place them on par with most modern high-end handsets. They were also announced with high-end price points; the Vivid was unveiled at $199.99 and the Skyrocket was given a $249.99 price tag. AT&T in the US has revealed the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, which not only comes packing all the features of a normal Samsung Galaxy S II, but also gets 4G LTE for speedier surfing and web downloads.
The phone comes with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display (800x480 pixels) powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, with 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
1080p HD video recording is there and Android Gingerbread should meet most of your OS needs until it gets an update to Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012. There's 16GB of on-board memory, which is microSD expandable to an additional 32GB.
