From IFA to retailers' shelves, Dell's XPS 14z has finally completed its marketplace destiny. The 14-inch Windows 7 laptop we recently reviewed as a sensible buy is now up on the company's site in three configurations, with the base model starting at $1,000. For your money, you can choose from a Core i5-2430M or Core i7-2640M processor, DDR3 SDRAM expandable to 8GB, up to 750GB of storage, an Intel HD Graphics 3000 or NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics card and, of course, you get that narrow bezeled Shuriken display. It may not quite be an Ultrabook, but the Dell XPS 14z is definitely a svelte bit of kit and it's UK bound next month.
This 14-inch laptop will come with Intel’s 2nd generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, a 1366x768 resolution display and optional features including the choice of a 500GB, 640GB or 750GB hard drive along with an internal tray-load DVD combo for playing and recording DVDs/CDs.
Its big selling point is its skinnyness though: measuring 23mm and looking rather cool with an aluminium and magnesium alloy finish with a palmrest in dark grey.

Dell launched a new ultrathin laptop in China on Friday called the XPS 14z, which is slated to arrive in other markets later this year to take advantage of the coming holiday shopping seasons.
Dell is marketing the XPS 14z as the world's thinnest, fully featured laptop with a slot for a DVD drive. In terms of thinness, it measures 23 millimeters (0.9 inches) and is built with an aluminum case, making it resemble Apple's MacBook Pro line of laptops.
