Samsung Wave Y LeFleur Edition revealed

If you thought the one thing missing from Samsung’s entry-level Wave Y S5380 phone was a pink floral design, you’re in luck. The manufacturer has launched a new version of the device, dubbed the LaFleur edition, with a bold pink-and-black motif. The inscription “LaFleur” appears on the front of the phone while the back, donned in pink, is etched with a full-body floral print.
The Samsung Wave Y S5380 runs on the Bada 2.0 platform, which is designed for low-end handsets. The S5380 is the lowest of those low-end devices, coming in at an unsubsidized price of just $165, at least in the Ukraine. There are more than just a couple of mobile operating systems out there in the world, believe it or not ladies and gentlemen, and if Samsung has anything to say about it in 2012, you’ll know the third heat to be Bada. We’ve had our hands on a few devices late this year running Samsung’s own personal brand of operating system, each of these devices with the lovely “Wave” name attached to them, and we’re to understand today that an update will be coming to a handful of these devices inside 2012. Hopefully it’ll be early on in the year as the last time we heard the Bada 2.0 update was swinging through was inside 2011, and that’s no longer looking too likely.

The Samsung Wave Y, the last and most affordable of the three waves that splashed the cell phone industry is officially here, with bada 2.0 showing off on a 3.2-inch HVGA LCD screen. Spec-wise, it’s similar to its older brother, the Samsung Wave M, as it packs an equally powerful 832MHz CPU and 150MB of internal memory extendible via a microSD card of up to 32GB.
The Samsung Wave Y however has cut some corners to be the most affordable in the trio and those are mostly in the photographic department. The basic 2-megapixel fixed-focus camera recording HVGA videos at 30fps on the handset is a significant downgrade from the 5-megapixel auto-focus shooters on the Samsung Wave 3 and Wave M. The p...
