Samsung to merge Bada OS with Intel-backed Tizen

During the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung announced that the company is working on merging its Bada mobile operating system with the open-source Tizen operating system. “We have an effort that will merge bada and Tizen,” said Tae-Jin Kan, senior vice president of Samsung’s Contents Planning Team, in an interview with Forbes. While he wasn’t aware when the work would be complete, Kang indicated that is has already begun. Read on for more. There are more than just a couple of mobile operating systems out there in the world, believe it or not ladies and gentlemen, and if Samsung has anything to say about it in 2012, you’ll know the third heat to be Bada. We’ve had our hands on a few devices late this year running Samsung’s own personal brand of operating system, each of these devices with the lovely “Wave” name attached to them, and we’re to understand today that an update will be coming to a handful of these devices inside 2012. Hopefully it’ll be early on in the year as the last time we heard the Bada 2.0 update was swinging through was inside 2011, and that’s no longer looking too likely.

Do you now look at your Samsung Wave or Wave II device with contemptuousness hidden beneath your eyes, following the unveiling of the awesome looking, Bada 2.0 packing, Wave 3 over at IFA?
Do you long for some Bada 2.0 action to at least put you on an OS-par with your Wave based contemporaries?
Well look and long no longer (or actually, just for a bit more) as it has been announced that Bada 2.0 will be making its way to the older Wave models later this year.
