Sony A77 and A65 'delayed by flood'

Sony A77 and A65 'delayed by flood'

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 by MG1

Sources at Sony suggest that the reason for the shipping delay of the A77 and A65 cameras is a flood emergency in Thailand, where the cameras are manufactured.
Tokyo-based Sony spokesman Yasuhiro Okada said that the company's digital camera and lens factory in Thailand hasn't suffered major damage from the floods, but the transport system is out, and most of the workers can't reach the factory.
SonyStore.com has removed the pre-order option for the cameras from its website, Sony UK says the cameras are temporary unavailable and Sony Germany and Sony France say that shipment will start in mid-November.

Sony unveils SLT-A77 flagship APS-C DSLR-rival

Posted on Aug 24, 2011 by MG15

Sony has released the SLT-A77, a successor to its A700 semi-pro DSLR. The long-promised A77 makes use of Sony's translucent mirror technology to offer an impressive 12 frame-per-second shooting rate, despite its 24MP APS CMOS sensor. In addition has the highest-resolution electronic viewfinder we've ever encountered, with a 2.4M dot OLED viewfinder that rivals the company's full-frame A900 for size. We've been using a pre-production A77 for just over a week and have prepared a hands-on preview including real-world sample gallery. Has it been worth the wait for the Alpha faithful?

New Sony A77 pictures and specifications leaked

New Sony A77 pictures and specifications leaked

Posted on Aug 23, 2011 by MG15

Pictures of a new Sony Alpha camera boasting a three-way tilt screen have made an appearance on German website D-SLT.

The new cam features a movie mode, in-built mic (or at least a mic grille), GPS and what looks like a decent sized APS-C sensor. Rumoured specifications include things like a whopping 24.3-megapixel Exmor HD sensor, plenty for a camera of its size.

Also impressive is the cam's supposed ISO range which extends all the way up to 16000 thanks to what is said to be a newly developed Bionz processor. The new Bionz hardware also helps the camera shoot at 12fps and have just a 50ms shutter time lag.

Sony's upcoming A77 DSLR has surfaced in a commercial posted on YouTube. It is unclear if the segment fabricated, a genuine leak, or an official teaser released ahead of the camera's formal unveiling. The short video shows the A77 half buried in sand on a beach. The operator then picks up the magnesium-body camera, brushes off sand and takes a snapshot of the water.
