Canon IXUS 220 HS Pro Reviews

itreviews‘s review Edit

This is a very neat and effective pocket camera, particularly if you take most shots using non-manual settings. With auto-scene selection and the HS System improving performance in low light, it's hard to take a bad photo. Take time to learn its feature set and you can have a lot of fun with the special effects, too.

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Ultimately, the main difference is the video mode, with the 220 HS able to zoom and autofocus while recording, while the 115 HS can't. Whether that's worth paying extra for depends on how much you envisage using it for videos. On balance we feel that the Canon Ixus 115 HS is the better buy, but the 220 HS is an excellent alternative.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The IXUS 220 HS is a really good looking, compact camera which takes pictures with excellent colour reproduction but is let down by chromatic aberration and lens flare at times. The creative modes make the camera really fun to use, as does the full HD video shooting mode. With the underwater case made by Canon, allow shooting upto depths of 3m, it's ideal for shots in the pool on holiday or when out snorkeling or surfing.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

In summing up, whilst the Canon IXUS 220 HS is not the most innovative model of recent months to land on our test slab, all things considered it's another Recommended award from the Photographyblog team of testers for anyone looking for an undemanding good value pocket camera that will deliver decent image quality with the minimum of fuss. Exciting it may not be, but at times you just want a camera that does the job of an aide memoire and don't want to spend a fortune to get it.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Canon IXUS 220 HS continues Canon's run of sleek, attractive pocket models and at under £200 it's not going to break the bank. That may sound like feint praise, and indeed it is - there's little here that we haven't witnessed before from the range. That in itself doesn't of course make the IXUS 220 HS a bad camera, it's just not an especially exciting one.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Canon's 12.1 million pixel IXUS 220 HS has a 5x optical zoom which starts at a wider-than-average 24mm and extends to 120mm, perfect for everyday photography. Canon also promises that its HS system enables the 220 HS to turn in good low-light performance.
