Android 2.3 Gingerbread update headed to Samsung DROID Charge "soon"

Posted on Nov 24, 2011 by MG1

Verizon Wireless has revealed that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Samsung DROID Charge smartphone will be released in the near future, or "soon" as the carrier puts it. The update will add security fixes and performance enhancements along with all of the other goodies that come with Android 2.3. Verizon typically rolls these updates out slowly, so users will have to sit back and wait for the notification on their phones alerting them that the update is ready to download and install.

Amazon Wireless Deal: Samsung DROID Charge available for a single cent, too

Amazon Wireless Deal: Samsung DROID Charge available for a single cent, too

Posted on Aug 31, 2011 by MG1

Just when we reported that Verizon’s HTC ThunderBolt is now available for a single cent, another LTE-enabled Android smartphone is offered for the same cash through Amazon Wireless. It’s the Samsung-made DROID Charge, which again has the ridiculous low price for new Verizon customers, only. Those upgrading will have to pour out $119.99 if they already have an individual account, or $179.99 if they are part of a family account. Adding a line to a family account will cost you $179.99.
As a reminder, the DROID Charge comes with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, Samsung’s 1GHz single-core Hummingbird processor, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, EV-DO. Rev. A c...

Samsung Droid Charge and LG Revolution drop down to $0.01 courtesy of Amazon

Samsung Droid Charge and LG Revolution drop down to $0.01 courtesy of Amazon

Posted on Aug 29, 2011 by MG15

Dramatically separating itself from the pack, the thunderous HTC ThunderBolt was recently reduced in priced to $0.01 on-contract thanks to Amazon, but it didn’t take long for its other siblings to make the drop as well.

Once again, Amazon is making it more affordable to own a Verizon 4G LTE smartphone now that they’ve lowered the price of the LG Revolution and Samsung Droid Charge to the easy to swallow price of a penny for new customers. Naturally, you’ll be required to sign off on a 2-year contract with the purchase – still, we’re sure that won’t be a problem for you.

Samsung Droid Charge is priced affordably at $99.99 through Amazon

Samsung Droid Charge is priced affordably at $99.99 through Amazon

Posted on Aug 01, 2011 by MG1

Being the costliest of the big three 4G LTE smartphones right now, one has to seriously dish out some dough to experience all of the joyous wonders available with the Samsung Droid Charge. Yet, its $299.99 on-contract price point might scare away some people from picking one up.
Luckily, that’s where Amazon comes to the rescue – yet again of course! Previously, we’ve seen the online retailer drop the handset’s price to a very reasonable $179.99 for anyone looking to start a brand new line of service with the carrier. This time however, they’re one-upping themselves by now pricing it at an even more remarkable $99.99, which is rather aggressive to tell you the truth.
Nevertheless, we’re certa...

Samsung Droid Charge root solution emerges to shakeup your warranty

Posted on Jul 12, 2011 by MG1

If you happened to grab the Samsung Droid Charge with its 4G LTE connectivity and unique Super AMOLED Plus display, you've noticed that the usual rooting solutions don't leave a scratch on the device, even though you are nonchalant about voiding the warranty.
Now there is a way to gain complete access to the Samsung Droid Charge, which you might want for various reasons. While it's not advisable to potentially void warranty this way, since the root method is permanent, it is still nice to know that you have options.
You will need the ChargeRoot file from the source link, as well as the Android Software Development Kit, which can be downloaded off of Google's Android website. The SDK require...

TBH app leaks Gingerbread for Droid Charge

TBH app leaks Gingerbread for Droid Charge

Posted on Jun 30, 2011 by MG1

Team Black Hat's got a trick or two up its (we assume) matching black sleeve and it smells like Gingerbread 2.3.3 to us. Released via the hacking outfit's eponymous non-Android market app, this unofficial upgrade ups your Droid Charge's ante -- literally, as the app costs $2.99. Available in both carrier-bloat and non-bloated varieties, custom ROM-flashing addicts can now take this leak for a spin, and always downgrade via P3Droid's handy tweeted directions. Cost-conscious Charge owners shouldn't feel sidelined since the generous blokes behind TBH intend on distributing this gratis... in the next 48 hours. If waiting's not your game and you need this now, be sure to check the source for a bl...
