HP Mini 311 Pro Reviews

AnandTech‘s review Edit

With so many other viable options, ultimately the HP Mini 311 is an interesting product that doesn't do enough to get our full attention. The most likely buyer for the 311 is users that want a netbook with an external Blu-ray drive and software, in which case $630 for the Mini 311 is a fair deal. Ultimately it's not a bad netbook, but neither is it Editors' Choice material.

The HP Mini 311 is an attractive, affordable, and portable computer. If you’re looking for a low cost system that can play modern video games with 3D graphics, this may be your best bet at the moment. But while the HP Mini 311 is strong in the graphics department, it’s weaker than the average netbook in most other areas.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 311 looked impressive in our First Look and after using it for a couple of weeks now those first impressions were spot on. As a netbook that lets you surf the web, write the odd email it performs as you would expect and good enough to be one of the top performing netbooks out there. The fact that HP has gone with a standard version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) rather than Starter is also welcomed.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

If you can get past its somewhat aged processor, most everything offered here is really refined. The keyboard is amazingly solid, the screen is beautiful and larger-than-average for a netbook, and 2GB of RAM certainly helps out. Windows 7 also makes a positive difference here, but the 5400RPM HDD won't break any records. Replacing that with an SSD would certainly help cover up the low-end 1.6GHz Atom CPU but would also add to total solution cost significantly, obviously.

While still in testing, the first Ion netbook so far delivers on its promise: The first truly affordable netbook that can play games and HD video has arrived.

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

At the end of the day HP created a very nice netbook with an 11-inch screen, reasonably powerful graphics, and a nice keyboard ... and then crippled it with Intel's Atom processor. If all you want to do is very basic web browsing, email, social networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and play World of Warcraft then the HP Mini 311 is a great ultraportable laptop.

This stylish netbook, the first we've seen with Nvidia's Ion graphics, delivers better-than-average graphics speed and a swell screen. We'd like to see an improved keyboard and longer battery life, however.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The HP Mini 311 runs on an Intel Atom processor, but everything around it belongs to Nvidia, including the heralded Ion graphics. A slight catch, though: The 311 runs on the Ion LE version...

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

HP's Mini 311 adds a larger, high-definition display and advanced graphics to a basic Netbook, while keeping the price very appealing. Once it starts shipping with Windows 7, this could become our favorite Netbook...
