The Motorola Atrix 4G made a big splash earlier this year for several reasons: it was the first dual-core Android phone to hit the market, and it transformed into a kind of laptop computer. Even if you ignored the groundbreaking laptop "Webtop" mode, the Atrix 4G was still a very powerful smartphone.

Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPHOTON 4G
It has been brought to our attention that some units of the Motorola PHOTON 4G are causing headaches to their unlucky owners. More specifically, a number of PHOTON 4G smartphones have been reported to be experiencing the exact same symptom – when placing calls, the other party cannot be heard in the earpiece when speaking. Quite a serious issue for such a high-end device, don't you agree?

Will the Motorola Droid Bionic live up to the hype?
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
The wait for the Motorola Droid Bionic is finally coming to an end, and Verizon’s first dual-core LTE phone will soon be upon us. The handset has garnered quite the following since we first saw it back in January and even the massive redesign didn’t seem to sway interest for the Bionic. Can the Bionic hold onto the hype once the smoke has cleared and it’s officially available to the world or was the hype all in the wait?

Sanjay Jha, Motorola's CEO, has commented that he wishes Motorola could get a similar deal to Nokia's with Microsoft, which sounds funny as the general opinion is that since they adopted Android, Motorola's got their shit together in recent years.

Motorola wants same deal as Nokia from Microsoft
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMicrosoftNOKIAMotorola
At a recent industry conference Motorola Mobility’s Sanjay Jha has confirmed once again that they are open to developing a Windows Phone 7 handset.
"I think we’re completely open to the notion of Windows as a platform," Jha said in an appearance at the Oppenheimer Technology & Communications Conference.
He confirmed however that they would only do it if they achieved special partner status like Nokia has, saying otherwise that at present "clearly, all of our focus today is on Android."
Jha was still waiting to see which OS will shake it for the 3rd place, saying only one of Windows Phone 7, webOS and RIM can survive.
While Motorola has seen an early revival from adopting Android, the compan...

DROID Bionic Revisions Revealed by FCC Documents
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
The DROID Bionic will be coming this September, and Verizon already has the teaser page up. While we know what it’s going to look like, and more or less what the specs are going to be, the FCC has released documents that give us a look at the revised DROID Bionic – the one we’ll be seeing next month.
The FCC reveals what we already know: the DROID Bionic will support CDMA/EVDO and LTE, it will have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, micro-USB, 8MP camera with flash, and micro-HDMI port. Overall, it’s what you’d expect from a high-end, modern-day smartphone.
We first saw the DROID Bionic at CES 2011, where we felt like it was definitely going to be the hot 4G LTE Android smartphone for Verizon. It is being la...

System boot file leaked to resurrect your bricked Motorola PHOTON 4G
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaPHOTON 4G
If you are one of those brave souls that are always poking around your phone despite that the warranty period just started, you might have gotten unlucky with the Motorola PHOTON 4G and hard-bricked the device, trying to go above and beyond what its creator and carrier intended.
Fortunately, if your Motorola PHOTON 4G had been lying at the bottom of your drawer after unsuccessful attempt to root or apply some other voodoo on it, now XDA-Devs have a solution.
A System Boot File (SBF) leaked on a thread in the forum, and the process to apply it to your comatose device is fairly straightforward, considering some others we've come across with. The Motorola PHOTON 4G (gently referred to as MoPho ...

Droid Bionic loses FCC confidentiality, gets updated with pics and user manual
Like UnlikeFiled in: Cell PhonesMotorolaDROID BIONIC
When it rains, it pours, and the latest in the torrential downpour of Droid Bionic news comes straight from the FCC itself: we've got a manual. The user's guide starts by confirming the usual suspects: a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4G LTE, a 4.3" screen and a rear-facing camera capable of capturing 1080p video. The good stuff comes in on page thirteen: the Motorola XT375 supports LTE, CDMA, GSM, and UTMS, a world phone with support for over 200 countries, but unlike its WiMax cousin, the Photon, UMTS support is limited to 2100MHz only. The familial similarities are still there, however, as it seems that the Bionic uses the same connector layout (microUSB / microHDMI) as the Photon, but shifted...

The Domino name and its fancy "plus" didn't make the cut, but at least the phone itself did. Not long after the Motorola XT531 endured its obligatory photo session, the Android 2.3 device has been deemed worthy of an official press release announcing its upcoming availability. With it, all of the pertinent details came gushing out: it's powered by an 800MHz CPU (no specific chip was mentioned), 512MB of RAM, a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 1540mAh battery for up to eight hours talk time, and it offers dual cameras (5 MP rear / VGA front). Dimensionally speaking, the handset is 11.95mm thick and weighs a smidgen above four ounces. Oh, and here's the kicker -- select parts of Asia will be able to c...
