By this time next month we’ll know either: 1) The exact specifications of Apple’s next generation iPhone, including pricing information and availability or 2) The date when Apple plans to unveil said iPhone. Until either of those two events happen however, it’s going to be rumor madness until the final moment. Snow Leopard to get iCloud support in 10.6.9 update?

Apparently those of you who aren't upgrading to Cupertino's latest and greatest desktop OS will be able to sling bits through iCloud with the upcoming 10.6.9 update. The screenshot above comes via an eagle-eyed developer, who's already upgraded his MobileMe account to the service and also happened to open its forebearer's preference pane on a machine running Tiger. No word on when it'll drop (we'd place our bets alongside iOS 5's launch this fall), but looks like those of you running Snow Leopard got some readin' to do.

Despite persistent rumors that the screen on the next iPhone will be 4"-4.2", extrapolated from some hearsay, concept renders, or alleged leaked bezels, the almighty "upstream supply chain sources" of Digitimes report that this might turn out to be just the public's opinion on it.
They say that the screen will most likely be 3.5"-3.7", but the thinner bezel surrounding it is making it look bigger. Another nugget of info from the news piece is that the back of the phone will be crafted out of metal, not the easy to shatter and heavy glass it has now. The rest of the rumored specs are regurgitated - A5 dual-core processor, 8MP camera and uber-thin design.

A Sprint-bound iPhone 5? The Wall Street Journal has been spreading the juicy rumor last week, hence the Now Network expects a flood of questions, so it has issued a how-to guide for dealers facing the issue of a news hungry Sprint customer. Instead of simply rejecting the rumor, as that seems the most obvious thing to do with a false statement, Sprint has asked dealers to answer with a vague “no comment.” If the iPhone news hungry Sprint customer continues to ask questions, dealers should admit they’ve seen the rumors, but finally redirect customers to Sprint’s official news wire.

Two leaks Friday have more clues as to the iPhone 5 and its development process. One sighting purports to be of the iPhone 5's mainboard. The AppleLeaks discovery doesn't confirm the expected A5 chip or other details but has different connections for the camera and power modules as well as the headphone jack and power sensor.

Sources with Apple's major suppliers -- including Quanta and Foxconn -- are not worried that Steve Jobs' resignation will affect orders, according to Digitimes. The sources remark that Apple's new CEO, former COO Tim Cook, was already responsible for handling the company's manufacturing dealings. The only real worry is the loss of brand recognition, and the potential impact on innovation unless Apple can find someone like its former icon, the sources say.

Analyst claims Apple A6 may not ship until June

Senior analyst Kevin Krewell of The Linley Group asserted in a research note that Apple's A6 processor would be relatively late. Citing a Taiwan Economic News article as part of his support, he believed the A6 wouldn't be in full production until spring at the earliest. To get it into a shipping product would mean the A6 not arriving until "at least" June, Krewell said.

Apple wins again, speeds up Samsung trial to July 30, 2012

Apple continued a string of wins against Samsung in its legal battles by speeding up the trial date for its core lawsuit against Samsung in the US. The Northern District of California court issued an order (below) issued an order setting the trial for July 30, 2012. While half a year later than the February 2012 date Apple had wanted, it would be much earlier than the March 2013 Samsung had suggested by targeting the median date for trial starts.

RIM may see a bounce back in the market simply out of carrier worries of an Apple and Google duopoly, Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu learned on Friday. After talking to carriers, he heard that networks are worried about the "growing dominance" of Android and the iPhone and were sorely looking for a third option to keep competition up. The persistent rumor of an Apple-branded TV was sparked once again with a rumor from multiple sources. The tips from San Francisco Bay area contacts for Alsop Louie Ventures didn't say much more than that it would most likely run iOS and with an aim for 2012. Co-founder Stewart Alsop explained to VentureBeat that he was on the boards of Sonos and TiVo and was connected to the hardware field.
He speculated that Apple was mostly held back by the costs of LCD panels.
