Fujifilm reveals HS30EXR 30x CMOS superzoom with Raw

Fujifilm has revealed the HS30EXR, the latest in its range of Raw-capable EXR superzoom cameras. The HS30 features a redesigned 16MP back-lit CMOS sensor and gains a series of improvements over the existing HS20 model. These include not only interface features such as electronic level gauge and manual focusing during video capture, but also more fundamental changes, such as the use of a lithium-ion battery and the addition of a high resolution electronic viewfinder. It retains the 24-720mm equivalent, F2.8-5.6 lens.

Fujifilm USA announces price for X-S1 high-end superzoom camera

Fujifilm USA has announced the price and availability of the X-S1 high-end superzoom announced back in November. The X-S1 is part of the company's premium 'X Series' and is built around the same 2/3" type 12MP CMOS sensor as the X10 enthusiasts' compact. It also features a 26X 24-624mm equivalent F2.8-5.6 zoom lens. It also features Raw shooting, a 1.44M dot electronic viewfinder and 460,000 dot rear LCD along with a rubberized coating and metal dials to emphasize its premium 'Made in Japan' status. It will be available later this month at a recommended price of $799.

Fujifilm unveils FinePix Z1000EXR Wi-Fi-connected card camera

Fujifilm has unveiled the Z1000EXR, a Wi-Fi compatible card style camera with 5x optical zoom. The Z1000 is built around the same 16MP back-lit EXR CMOS sensor as the F770EXR but adds sensor-shift image stabilization. It also gains the ability to connect to iOS and Android smartphones for quick uploading of images to social networking sites. It is built around a 3.5" touch screen and a 28-140mm equivalent F3.9-4.9 lens.

Fujifilm unleashes FinePix SL300 and SL240

Fujifilm has unleashed the FinePix SL300 and SL240 mid-range superzoom cameras. The 30x zoom FinePix SL300 and 24x zoom SL240 sit beneath the manufacturer's X-S1 and HS30EXR models but above the co-announced S4500 and S4000, to offer a heartily-bezoomed camera for any pocket. Both cameras are based around 14MP stabilized CCD sensors and offer comparatively high-resolution 460,000 dot LCDs. They also feature hot-shoes to allow use with external flash guns.

Fujifilm has dispatched the FinePix JZ200 and JZ100 metal-bodied, 8x zoom compact cameras. Both use CCD sensors, with the JZ200 featuring a 16MP chip, while the JZ100 has a 14MP version. Both have optical image stabilization and 25-200mm equivalent zoom lenses. Their small bodies mean there's only room for 2.7", 270k dot LCDs on the back.

Fujfilm has released the S4500 and S4200 entry-level superzoom cameras. The S4500 and S4200 are built around the 30x and 24x zoom lenses that also appear in the company's 'SL' cameras, and are based around the same 14MP CCD sensors. The major difference is the exterior design and the inclusion of lower-resolution LCDs (230k dots). The S-series cameras also lose the SL's flash hot-shoes.

Olympus has extended its cashback offer on the premium XZ-1 compact camera.
Customers who buy the camera before the end of February can claim £40 cashback.
The Olympus XZ-1 is the company's top of the line compact and offers a number of advanced features including the ability to shoot in raw format and full manual control.
It also features a digital iZUIKO wideangle 28-112mm (35mm equivalent) lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at the wide-angle end, which is especially designed to help with shooting in low light situations. A manual lens ring allows for quick adjustment of key camera settings when shooting, while a sliding depth-of-field adjuster is also included.

Olympus to create 'epoch-making' mirrorless camera, E-5 DSLR successor in development

Beleaguered Olympus plans to develop a new mirrorless camera with an "epoch-making" viewfinder, and has already started work on a successor to the E-5 DSLR. Olympus's director of marketing, Haruo Ogawa, revealed in an interview with Digital Camera Magazine of Japan that the company is making the viewfinder a priority based on customer feedback, though the new cameras will retain compatibility with the current PEN Micro Four Thirds line. Leica releases S2 firmware upgrade

Leica Camera has unveiled a new firmware upgrade for its medium format S2 camera, FW 1.0.2.0.
The fifth firmware update for the camera, this is specially developed for the use of the camera with the new Leica Elmarit-S 30mm f/2.8 ASPH wide-angle lens, to ensure optimum functionality of the lens with the S2 body.
Registered Leica S2 users can upgrade their camera by downloading the firmware update from the Owners Area of the Leica website.

Nikon D4 available from January 2012?

Reports are suggesting that a new Nikon DSLR, the D4, is likely to start shipping at the end of January 2012.
According to a post on NikonRumors, information suggests that the new camera will be ready for order and pick up at the end of January, meaning it would be available before Canon's EOS 1DX which was announced earlier in the year, but is only expected to be available in February next year.

Olympus preparing 'revolutionary' camera

A spokesperson from Olympus Japan has confirmed that the firm is working on a new compact system camera to be released next year.
The new camera is said to be a mirrorless model with special emphasis on the viewfinder. The current line-up of Olympus PEN models don't have built-in viewfinders, but they are available to buy as optional extras.
In the interview, Olympus Manager Mr Ogawa described the new camera's viewfinder as "epoch-making" and it will be announced soon.
