HP and RED have have teamed up to create a custom version of the HP Z820 Workstation, HP's high-end tower PC. The HP 820 Tower (RED edition) will come with dual REDMag readers, which sit at the front of the tower, and can be pre-configured with multiple RED Rocket video accelerators. RED also says that the systems will arrive with a "tuned" version of Adobe Creative Suite 6.

Google and Samsung on Tuesday announced a new Chromebook and Chromebox computer. Both machines are powered by Google’s cloud-based Chrome OS and are built for speed. Samsung’s newest Chromebook, the Series 5 550, features a 12.1-inch display, an Intel Core processor, 4GB of RAM, an HD Camera, two USB 2.0 ports and six hours of continuous battery life. The Chromebox resembles Apple’s Mac mini, and adds four additional USB 2.0 ports. Dell reaches for the cloud with new prototype ARM server

Dell on Tuesday announced a prototype low-power server with ARM processors, following a growing demand by Web companies for custom-built servers that can scale performance while reducing financial overhead on data centers.
The proof-of-concept server is code-named Copper and is the first one from Dell that is based on the ARM processor. Dell will not sell the server, but will install prototypes at specific locations so customers can kick the tires around ARM, whose processor designs are found in most smartphones and tablets today.

Acer regains PC share, optimistic on Windows 8, ultrabooks

Acer in discussing its latest results at an investor's conference was hopeful that this was a sign of a widescale resurgence in PCs for the industry. Its climb from 10.1 percent share in the fall to 10.9 percent this winter was a sign the company's "competitiveness is coming back," according to chairman JT Wang, and that Acer would climb back to third place while Dell sank. Demand for the spring would be typical in light of world economic troubles, but it would grow in earnest in 2012 and expand to more than 10 percent in 2013.

HP announces six Ivy Bridge desktops, available April 29th from $699

We've already seen a number of laptops from HP sporting Intel's 22nm micro architecture, most commonly known as Ivy Bridge, but now the company is giving its desktop lineup a similar refresh with six quad-core models that'll be available directly from the manufacturer on April 29th. Of the group, three will feature all-in-one form factors, which include the Omni 220qd -- a rig with Beats Audio and a cantilever design that'll start at $999 -- along with the Omni 27qd, which features a 27-inch display and a $1,199 price tag. The third model will bring a refresh to the TouchSmart 520xt, which features a touch-enabled 23-inch display that'll retail for $999.

If you’re a fan of the all-in-one design and aren’t up for Lenovo’s unconventional A720, then there’s good news: HP’s mid-range, big-screen Omni 27 will soon get an Ivy Bridge option. Dell has just announced four newly updated Precision tower workstations for business professionals with Intel's 32nm, eight-core Xeon E5-2600 processors. Other than the new chip, the towers get an externally-removable power supply that doesn't require any tools. It is lockable and has a built-in handle that lights up green when it's functioning properly.
The hard drives are also accessible from the front of the tower of the Precision T7600. It allows storing the drives in secure locations at the end of the day when needed. A redesigned family of Apple’s iMac computers may feature anti-reflective displays, DigiTimes reported on Monday. The Taiwanese publication claimed that G-Tech is ramping up its production capacity of cover glass from 1.8 million units a month to 3 million units, and the company is estimated to produce up to 30% of the total cover glass orders for Apple’s iPad in 2012. According to “industry sources,” G-Tech is also expected to supply anti-reflective glass for Apple’s iMac lineup, which will expand the company’s growth within the industry. The £22 Raspberry Pi computer has been a phenomenal success, but gaming legend and co-founder David Braben has told TechRadar that the "broken" British tax system made the entire project far harder.
The Raspberry Pi foundation has developed a super-low cost computer in the hopes of getting kids to engage more with their technology, although the concept has appealed on a much larger scale.
Speaking to TechRadar, co-founder Braben told of the huge problems that the project faced and ultimately why the device is built outside of the country.
