Just like we'd heard, we'll be getting our first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich next week, on October 19th to be precise. Of course we've already had a whiff of what it looks like in a video, and sampling the new Music and Google+ apps gave us another good look. But now we're set to see it for real, and if all goes well we might just get some new hardware out of the deal, too. Will this be the day the Nexus Prime makes us think that flat smartphones are... well... square? We'll be there live to let you know as it happens.

Google may show Android 4, new Nexus on October 18

New rumors circulating are pointing to a new October 18 launch for both Google’s latest operating system Android 4 and the next flagship Nexus phone from Samsung, which will showcase Ice Cream Sandwich. The launch date was postponed from its planned October 11 launch following the death of Steve Jobs. Droid-Life sources have said that the revised launch is now expected to coincide with the AsiaD: All Things Digital event in Hong Kong beginning next week.
The rescheduled Unpacked event is now only going to take place in outside of the US, where the original event was scheduled to coincide with CTIA currently underway in San Diego. For US users interested in following the event, it is said to ...

Android 4 leak shows Google Music 4.0, Google+ 2.0

A leak of an Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) build has unearthed two important remade apps. Google Music 4.0 has a much cleaner, streamlined interface more in line with the "holographic" look, Android Police saw. It would have more control over playback with thumbs-up and thumbs-down options along with much larger album art.
The build obtained so far doesn't have the offline caching option, however, leading to worries that Google might have lost rights to storing music offline. It's possible the feature was temporarily disabled for a given build or is waiting for certain other conditions before it comes online.
