The HTC Hero is NOT MY Hero, I'd drown, get run over, or burn to death.

The HTC Hero by Sprint (CDMA) has the slowest processor of any phone I've used or reviewed. As the cellphoneguruman, I wanted an Android phone that was smaller in size, yet could handle the applications I wanted to run. The HTC Hero is so slow that when dialing a number, you must gently hit the number key, wait a second, then move on to the next number. This takes for EVER to dial. If you call a busy number and want to hit redial, you must wait an eternity before the last number dialed is stored into the call log. Otherwise, you will call the number you previously dialed and come up with a fancy butt dial story to apologize. When using the navigation solution, you will be guaranteed that you'll miss your exit before the Hero updates your location. These are two examples of why I hate the phone. I like it with a pro list of, size, price, speaker, and signal strength. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with the performance and want to through the phone out the window after having to dial a number.

Not great at all. The delay between the push of the button and the capture is too slow and the blur in low light situations is horrible

Solid...

Ownership period: less than 3 months.
Feel: The soft-touch coating feels good in the hands, and it's sturdy. (Unlike the palm pre which feels like you have a two dollar fake phone bought in the infant toy isle.) The gray looks good but a black would be better, in my humble opinion. It's not too heavy and fits well in the pocket.
Screen: Screen is big enough, but obviously nothing like a droid. Multi-touch actually works better than I expected after researching the phone before I bought it. It doesn't lag to bad... works pretty well. One comment, it does attract a lot of fingerprints
Camera: For not having a flash i'm very satisfied with the quality of the photos.
The overall performance is OK but nothing to write home about. Sometimes it gets sluggish, and the internet isn't ultra quick, but for me it works better than the pre..... which brings me to the reception. Excellent. I had no idea how big of an impact the phone itself could make on the reception. I live in rural Wisconsin and have EVDO almost everywhere, don't even really need wifi. Android is the operating system is the best out there( it's running the 1.6, not the newer 2.1, but there's not many differences between the two). The apps are amazing and most are free.
Official rating is 8.75/10, and definitely ahead of the pre. GO ANDROID!!!
