The Sony a7 III may not quite be in the pro league, but it's certainly got some pretty badass, pro-level features that are a treat to any entry to enthusiast photographer, and practical for experienced shooters to have. It has its limitations, yes, and there are some shooting situations that it might not be the best body for, but with the right glass and the right talent behind it, it can be a powerful tool for shooting portraits, landscapes, events, travel and even some action shots.

Engadget‘s review Edit Like Unlike

Frankly, unless you really need a specific feature like high resolution, the A7 III offers the best-rounded feature set you can get for $2,000. Sony might call it the "basic" model of the A7 lineup, but it's possibly the best camera on the market, period, at any price.

The Sony a7 III is a well-priced, well-rounded camera suitable for all kinds of photography. Twenty-four megapixels of resolution is more than sufficient for most tasks, and the 693-point autofocus system and 10 frames-per-second burst speed help the a7 III keep up with fast action. Video quality and feature set is another strong point, though some operational lag, a slightly low-resolution viewfinder and unintuitive video autofocus may turn off some users.

The Sony A7 III is quite simply the best camera available at its price-point. It's good enough to tempt some people to stretch their budget further, and even good enough for some to save money by not having to look higher up the range. It may be "basic" in its current positioning at the bottom of the Sony full-frame line-up, but it's definitely outstanding in all other regards.
