Samsung PN50B550 User Reviews

Ownership period: less than a month.

When I started to research my 3rd 50" Plasma, I pretty much had narrowed it down to 2 manufacturers...Samsung and Panasonic. The Panasonic TV's are great TV's and almost bought one based on a lot of reviews...however my father actually beat me to it, and having seen his panasonic suffer from the same ghosting lines (perfect example is on the show The Office, when a person is standing in front of a set of blinds, the blinds ghost through the persons face with a slight grey bar) I decided to look into the Samsung's again. I am very glad I did...other reviews state that the TV has satisfying blacks, and one of the if not the best color accuracy of any TV... I also had heard the rumor that Samsung picked up on some left over Pioneer parts to build these TV's and know they were the TOPS.

Having broken the TV in properly and calibrated it, I can say that this TV does not suffer from the grey ghost lines, and in fact has one of the best pictures I have seen from a 50"plasma, although my last 50" was essentially the year older model of this TV.

My only complaint is that when you try to pick the TV up the edges are rather sharp, due mainly to the "touch of color" design around the outside...but how often are you picking your TV up?
