Apple iPhone 6s Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Apple's done what we all expected - finely balanced its 'S' phone. 3D Touch is a genuine innovation, and the phone works fluidly at nearly every task - but it's very similar to 2014's model.

With its more elegant body, better camera, faster chipset, and record LTE band support, the iPhone 6s seems destined to remain the popular choice compared to the Xperia X. Moreover, Sony priced its midranger just a hundred lower than the iPhone 6s, which wouldn't help its cause at all.The Xperia X is a decent phone with a stylish appearance. However, the iPhone 6s is a superb phone that's also stylish. And with the current pricing schemes employed by the two manufacturers, there really doesn't seem to be that much actual competition going on here. Apple's proposition comes across as the much better one, all things considered.

The HTC 10 ended up a very well-made phone, with barely a perceivable weakness that would preclude you from getting it. It has a clean and quick interface, quite the improved camera, and a dedicated strength in the audio department, so all is well if you are in the Android camp.Against the iPhone 6s it stands up taller and thicker, though – literally – and its camera abilities leave a bit to be desired in comparison. Still, the HTC 10 doesn't lag that much behind the iPhone 6s, so if you'd like to be part of the Android camp, the 10 is a perfectly fine choice. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s continues to be the preferred choice for a more user-friendly and refined overall experience.

Despite that huge difference in price, the Mi 5 feels like a high-end phone: it has the stylish design, it has the very fast performance and extremely fast fingerprint reader, it has a decent battery life and good camera, and it has a few neat feature with its MIUI interface that are great for power users. And it has a very beautiful and bright display that impresses. It’s a great device that works well. Nonetheless, the iPhone has the upper hand with its very reliable and smooth performance, great selection of apps and games, the better camera experience with neat new options like Live Photos and 3D Touch, and with its services that work well in the United States: things like Apple Pay and Apple Health.

The Galaxy S7 is slightly more expensive than the basic iPhone 6s, but offers more internal storage, so pricing is more or less on equal footing. Samsung's Galaxy S7 comes with tons of features, it's easily one of the most versatile smartphones out there, and that counts for something. While it may not be on quite the same level as the iPhone 6s when it comes to quality of design and user experience, the troves of functionality it offers make it a worthy alternative for the tech-savvy nation.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

We're really impressed by the offerings of the iPhone 6s, especially the 3D Touch technology. If it catches on (and we think it will) 3D Touch will completely change how people interact with their iPhones, both in terms of browsing the web and social media as well as when gaming. The camera overhaul is definitely a welcome addition too, especially when you consider Apple hasn't upped the resolution of its iSight camera since the iPhone 4s back in 2011. This works well with Live Photos, a new software feature that captures a gif-like video complete with audio when you take a photo - 1.5 seconds before the photo was taken, and 1.5 seconds after. It doesn't just boast impressive new features, the boosted internals provide us with a much faster iPhone than we're used to, and tasks that would take seconds on our iPhone 6 Plus took a split second on the iPhone 6s. We're excited about the technology the iPhone 6s offers, and what it means for future smartphones.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

If you’ve read everything so far, you probably know the answer to the ultimate question that we ask ourselves in the conclusion: is it worth upgrading to the iPhone 6s from the iPhone 6? It’s hard to see a convincing reason to do so right now: 3D Touch is nice, but a limited number of third-party apps are supporting it and even some apps by Apple don’t support it yet, the new system chip is faster, but the perceived improvement is very minimal and the same goes for the new cameras. Real-life battery life is also just slightly better and both iPhones have equally great-looking displays. From a purely practical perspective, we’re – – most impressed with 3D Touch and all the potential that comes with it, but also with Live Photos and 4K video, which looks a lot better than 1080p. If money is not an issue, these are indeed meaningful improvements across the board with the iPhone 6s, so you have a good enough reason to upgrade from the 6. Gamers should also be excited about the A9 and 3D Touch in games. For all the rest that are looking for a more practical reason to upgrade (rose gold does not count) and are more or less on budget, we'd say you'll be perfectly OK if you just stick with the iPhone 6 for another year.

With both handsets going for similar approaches on a number of levels, we should really be looking at their more pronounced differences. First off, the screen of the iPhone 6s is less pixel-heavy, but that doesn't really detract from the actual user experience, and comes as a bonus in the way of smoother navigation, higher frame rate in games, and — as it turns out — satisfying battery life. With regards to software experience, cameras, browsing and most other aspects, it's almost always a question of trade-off between quality and quantity, with the iPhone 6s gravitating towards the quality side of things, and the Galaxy S6 demonstrating a preference towards the “more is better” approach. One advantage of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is its slightly lower price point, with savings of anywhere from $50 to $100 right now. Not only that, but the base model comes with 32GB of base storage, while the cheapest iPhone 6s is still — quite disappointingly — limited to just 16GB. Ultimately, not much has changed in the world of Samsung and Apple flagships. Picking either is still a matter of user preference more than anything else.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Outside of the price and quality perspectives, there are many things that make the iPhone 6s and LG G4 quite unique. The iconic look of Apple's smartphones has been successfully imitated, but its pedantic level of polish and general niceness still hasn't been matched. Although high-end Android smartphones, such as the LG G4, have come close to replicating this effortlessness, they are still no match for the iPhone's consistency. However, they do present an avenue for experimenting with interesting technology and novel design decisions. The LG G4 is an endearing example of Android's freehand nature with its original look, leather back or not, and also boasts wonderful user-centric features, such as a great (but not consistently so) camera, a removable battery, and a microSD card slot. We also love the straightforwardness of its user interface, complete with LG's clever additions to Google's operating system.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

This year's iPhone 6s manages to shake off the perception that 'S'-generation iPhones are less exciting than their “full-fledged” predecessors (or successors), and it does so by not only building upon the already strong foundation of the iPhone 6, but actually introducing radically new, thought-out, meaningful concepts. Expect competitors to follow suit with pressure-sensitive screens of their own soon. Dressed in rose gold, of course.
