Canon PIXMA MG6620 Pro Reviews

computershopper‘s review Edit

The Pixma MG6620 is a fine inkjet AIO, especially when it comes to printing photos. However, the next model up the new line, the Pixma MG7520, is an overall better value Here’s why. For the additional $50 you get a sixth gray ink cartridge that helps print better gray-scale images and improve the printer’s overall range of color reproduction. You also get a slightly larger input tray (125 sheets, versus 100) for full-size paper, and the MG7520 has a second tray inside the main tray for loading snapshot-size photo paper, so you don’t have to swap out the stock when you need one or the other. Furthermore, the higher-end model supports CD/DVD labeling, active NFC—and a good bit more. While both models print excellent photos, the list of features above is surely worth $50 by itself for those looking for versatility from an AIO. Besides, as we wrote this in mid-November 2014, we found the Pixma MG7520 for sale at Staples, Newegg, and a few other online stores for $149.99, making it, in our opinion, that much more attractive. At the same time, we found the Pixma MG6620 offered at the same sites for $99.99, or $50 below its list. We do think the MG7520 is worth the budget stretch if you can afford it, though. In either case, with either model, you get a fine photo printer. And, as we’ve said about most AIO photo printers (not just Pixmas), they’re fine for documents, too—once in a while. For more than a handful of jobs a month, they’re inefficient and expensive to use. Still, at a mere $100, the Pixma MG6620 is a mighty fine photo printer that could supplement a document-churning laser quite nicely.
