Sony Alpha NEX ILCE-5000L Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Another decent, well performing camera from Sony here. The A5000 is a good buy for those looking for their first compact system camera, offering a decent range of options for both beginners and those who are a little more experienced.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

With its 20.1MP APS-C sensor and $499 kit price, the Sony Alpha A5000 is a no-brainer recommendation. This would be an excellent move for those of leaving the land of compacts for an interchangeable lens camera. That said the A5000 does have its limitations as we’ve detailed. If you want a better LCD, faster burst mode, and 60p video, look elsewhere. Yet the price value equation here is a good one and the A5000 definitely achieves our Recommended status.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Sony Alpha 5000 is an affordable mirrorless camera that delivers excellent images, but advanced shooters are going to feel limited by its control system.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Sony Alpha A5000 is one of the more compact mirrorless cameras available with built in flash, particularly considering it has an APS-C CMOS sensor. For a smaller mirrorless camera you could have a look at the smaller sensor Nikon 1 series, or the Panasonic Lumix GM1 with Micro Four Thirds sensor, both feature smaller bodies and smaller lenses. The Sony Alpha A5000 is comfortable to hold with a large rubberised grip, and produces excellent images with good colour and detail. It has a number of useful features including Automatic Dynamic Range Optimisation (DRO) and HDR modes to expand dynamic range, as well as good noise performance. The built in Wi-Fi and NFC is a useful feature and the capabilities of the camera can be improved through the installation of additional apps. The tilting screen makes it easy to take self portraits or shoot at different angles. For those looking for one of the smallest possible mirrorless cameras with an APS-C CMOS sensor, with a built in flash and built in Wi-Fi, the Sony Alpha A5000 would make an excellent choice, especially as it is competitively priced.
