Razer Blade Pro Pro Reviews

NotebookReview‘s review Edit

The Razer Blade Pro is an innovative high quality entry into the gaming notebook market. This 17.3" notebook is impressively thin (0.88") and lightweight (6.58 lbs.). Its all-aluminum chassis is both strong and well designed. The most unique aspect of the Blade Pro is its Switchblade user interface - the multifunctional LCD trackpad with built-in apps. Other highlights of this notebook include a good quality keyboard, beautiful 1920x1080 display and decent battery life. Things we didn't like include the relatively noisy cooling system (while gaming; it's plenty quiet otherwise), lackluster port selection and no user upgradeability. The Blade Pro has fixed specifications save for the storage drive; it's available with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB priced from $2,299.99 to $2,799.99. A similarly-priced Alienware or Sager offers more gaming performance for the dollar; however, the Blade Pro offers a much thinner and lighter package with better battery life and the Switchblade user interface. Razer can charge a premium for this and does; while we won't say it's a door buster deal, it's fairly priced. Overall we're more than happy to recommend the Razer Blade Pro.

The Razer Blade Pro performed exceptionally well in a number of our tests, especially in our performance benchmarks. Gamers would be quite happy with Razer’s current gaming laptop as it’ll certainly keep up with modern-day games and continue to support future games for a few years. There are some issues with the Razer Blade Pro to keep it from receiving our excellent rating, one of which is its weight. Yes – our research shows that the Blade Pro’s performance certainly makes it worth lugging around, but the fact of the matter is that most people won’t want to travel too far if they have 6.58lbs in their backpack. We believe the Razer Blade Pro is the ideal gaming laptop to bring over to a local LAN party, but you might want to reconsider if you’re going to be doing a lot of traveling, unless you have the back muscles of an Adonis. If you take your gaming serious and want to have a more portable solution while you’re on the go or if you’re moving from one area of your home to another frequently, then the Razer Blade Pro is the gaming laptop for you. It has the performance, the unique look and we really liked its LCD trackpad, that is, once we got used to its unorthodox location.
