EVGA GeForce GTX 780 w/ ACX Cooler Pro Reviews

HotHardware‘s review Edit

As we mentioned in the conclusion of our launch article from last week, we really like the GeForce GTX 780. It's pricey, no doubt about it, but for $350 less than a GeForce GTX Titan, you can have a card that's almost as fast and offers virtually the same feature set to gamers. The EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC with ACX cooling, however, takes everything good about the GeForce GTX 780 and enhances it with a custom cooler that not only performs very well, but is quiet and looks great too. Although we can't say for certain without some long-terms testing, the dual-ball bearing fans used on the ACX cooler should also last longer than models with sleeve bearings too. The EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC with ACX cooling is also nicely overclockable and includes some fun stuff in its accessory bundle. Perhaps best of all, the additional performance offered by the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC with ACX cooling only marginally increases its price. This card can be had for $659--only $10 more than a reference model. We have yet to review any other custom GeForce GTX 780 cards from NVIDIA's other key AIB partners, but as it stands today, the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC with ACX cooling is the card we'd buy if we had the funds for a high-end GPU at this price point.

With the GTX 780 ACX SC, EVGA has been able to achieve this class-leading, GTX TITAN beating performance and low acoustical profile without adding a substantial amount to the reference card’s price. That's an enticing combination for anyone looking for a high end GPU.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked with ACX Cooling is a great looking card that is able to compete with a GeForce GTX Titan and costs $340 less. What is there not to like?

Fudzilla‘s review Edit

The EVGA 780 Superclocked costs €30 more than the reference card and it is not much of a difference in this segment, all things considered. We believe the ACX cooler and overlocking potential are well worth the premium.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

Not long ago, people were shocked by GTX Titan's massive $1000 pricing, and the GTX 780 isn't cheap either. NVIDIA's MSRP is $649, and EVGA's GTX 780 SC w/ ACX cooler is available online for $659, a very reasonable $10 premium. While it's not EVGA's fault, the general price of the GTX 780 is definitely too high when looking at the delivered performance. The card should, even after looking at its performance, be around $550. So it's overpriced, we kinda all knew that, but will NVIDIA get away with it? Absolutely. Many people bought the GTX Titan after the outcry on GTX Titan pricing but are extremely happy with the card. Countless forum reports are testament to that. These same people will now be sad as many fought with their wives/GFs/moms to buy a GTX Titan, because the GTX 780 offers pretty much the same performance at a lower price. If you can't afford the GTX 780, don't worry about it. The GTX 770 will be launching soon, and GeForce GTX 600 cards are still strong. It's not like the GTX 700 introduces features that you absolutely must have to be able to play the latest games. Most gamers will even have a great time with a $200 GTX 660 that can play all titles just fine at full HD. But you now have options that cost less than 1000 USD if you want more.
