LG 29EA93 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

It's not height-adjustable and has a few fiddly features, but this 29in monitor has excellent image quality and a wide range of inputs

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The LG 29EA93 measures fairly well post calibration, so LG did a reasonably good job on the electronics side. However, while a 21:9 aspect ratio offering 2560 x 1080 resolution sounds like an exciting concept, it’s really a solution in search of a problem. Blu-ray and Internet streaming movie services aren’t really set up to deliver 21:9 movies, so you need to rely on the scaling or stretching capability of either the display or the playback software. Games are another mixed bag, and many games will likely require some tweaking and fixes in order to run full resolution. The issues may be different with different graphics cards as well. The LG 29EA93 is conceptually a fascinating display. While we applaud LG for trying something innovative, this may be a case of too much, too soon. However, if you don’t have the desktop space for two full monitors, the 29EA93 may serve well as a normal desktop display. But see if you can take a look at one before you buy.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The LG 29EA93 won’t be for everyone. The 2560 by 1080 pixel ultra-wide aspect ratio is great, but brings with it issues of compatibility with existing software and hardware. Some of the more advanced options can be tricky to set up. However, our sample delivered highly accurate factory-calibrated colour and the vast selection of features are sure to please demanding users.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

The LG Flatron 29EA93-P is an impressively wide IPS display that produces brilliant output with rich colors, deep blacks and excellent contrast. It’s possibly the most evenly-lit and brightest monitor I’ve encountered, armed with a plethora of ports (sans VGA), a USB 3.0 hub while also boasting solid construction, a stylish look and a myriad of OSD fine-tuning options. Gaming on the 29EA93 feels more immersive than your average 16:9 display with no appreciable input lag and minimal latency. Meanwhile, your favorite flicks will be a treat to watch and multi-tasking with side-by-side windows works markedly well. These are all areas where its 21:9 aspect ratio excel. While LG gets plenty right with the 29EA93, it’s not perfect. The 29-inch monitor is plenty wide to accommodate two windows, but its relatively narrow height and 1080px vertical resolution may leave some claustrophobic at times. Additionally, while a single 29EA93 display won’t serve as a suitable replacement for your multi-monitor setup, it does allow for some of the utility making it a better choice than any 16:9 1080p panel. However, this utility will set you back almost as much as a few competing WQHD displays with superior resolutions (2560 x 1440).
