Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Pro Reviews

ExtremeTech‘s review Edit

When the Core 2 Quad Q6600 drops in price to the $500 to $600 price range, and when more applications take advantage of multiple cores, it will be a good deal. The current price makes this chip only attractive to power-users, who are better off spending $150 more to get the chip with a higher default clock speed and an unlocked multiplier for more overclocking options.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

The Q6600 is another leap in the right direction for Intel, as it will give many more users the option of quad-core technology. Today’s video editing software seems to benefit the most from this new technology, followed by image editing software. However, those that like to multi-task like crazy will also enjoy the power of a quad-core processor.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

At the moment, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor is available at just over US$850. Still pricey, but for high-end enthusiasts looking to future-proof their system with a quad-core processor at a slightly lower entry point, and perhaps overclock them, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 is just the ticket they've been waiting for.

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

According to our tests and numerous overclockers’ reports online, quad-core Core 2 Quad Q6600 processors can overclock up to 3.6GHz with proper air-cooling. In this case they can perform better than Core 2 Duo CPUs overclocked to their maximum. So, we think Core 2 Quad Q6600 seems to be a much more attractive offering these days than Core 2 Duo E6850.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

If you’ve got an E6600 and want something a bit more productive look at the Q6600. If you’re looking for a new CPU and tossing up between an E6850 or Q6600, go the quad-core, at least you can also tell your friends you have a quad-core, that sounds more impressive than dual!
