ASUS P8Z77-V PRO Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The ASUS P8Z77-V Pro motherboard is a fairly feature rich motherboard for the price point of about $208. ASUS however has set the P8Z77 series motherboard bar so high that the P8Z77-V Pro fails to blow us away. It surely does not disappoint either. For ASUS the P8Z77-V Pro is a "middle of the road" motherboard in enthusiast eyes. Of course you also have to take into account that with ASUS, "middle of the road" means it is a damn good product. ASUS just builds so many exceptional products that it makes it hard to get excited about one that is "just" really good. Also given that the Auto Overclocking utility pushed the vCore up to 1.4v on our retail 3770K makes me a little hesitant to suggest this motherboard for noobs either. If you buy a P8Z77-V Pro you are likely going to be very happy with it, but you will no doubt find someone with an ASUS branded motherboard that leans a bit more to the enthusiast user, and you will likely have $40 more in your pocket than him as well.

An excellent all-round motherboard, that's only really let down by a lack of USB connectivity out of the box.

The ASUS P8Z77-V PRO is a top mid-range motherboard, and therefore targeted to the user who wants more features than mainstream motherboards provide, such as three PCI Express x16 slots, eight USB 3.0 ports, a Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n card, and an above-average voltage regulator circuit. The only feature that we didn’t like about the P8Z77-V PRO was the choice of audio codec. Since it is a top mid-range product, we’d expect it to use a high-end codec such as the ALC898 or the ALC889, which provide a higher signal-to-noise ratio. On the other hand, if you are not going to work professionally with audio editing or converting analog audio to digital format, that won’t be a problem for you.
