ASUS Rampage IV GENE Pro Reviews

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

The ASUS Rampage IV Gene motherboard, like all the other ROG motherboards, is very solidly constructed. The Extreme Engine DIGI+ II is built on Japanese 10K Black metallic capacitors. According to ASUS, these have a lifespan five times that of solid capacitors, the industry standard component, and they also have better efficiency and higher stability at high temperatures. All of the components on the ASUS Rampage IV Gene are designed to last. In reality, the functionality of the ASUS Rampage IV Gene is what keeps me from writing this motherboard off as a viable option. If you want Sandy Bridge Extreme capabilities for your gaming rig, or especially if you are into overclocking but are on a little bit of a budget, you won't find more options for the same price. From absolutely the highest level of control in monitoring and adjusting voltage and overclock levels to the prioritization of your internet connection for gaming to the isolation of the audio CODEC so you get the best sound available, the Rampage IV Gene offers tons of functionality.

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

We were expecting decent performance from the Rampage IV Gene as it is a ROG board, but we never expected the performance it delivered. Granted it does not overclock as high as the Extreme board, but to anyone who understands the sheer power delivered by the Extreme board would not be surprised by this. Also, the Extreme board is much larger compared to the mATX Gene. This board has the efficiency to blast through the most demanding games, along with video encoding or any other task we could come up with for it. While this board is a little pricey for a mATX offering we believe that as a ROG board with the excellent performance we observed, it is justified. For anyone looking for a new LAN gaming system or even a beast 24/7 desktop that will not exceed dual GPU's, this is hard to beat as the performance is amazing. The only issue that needs to be kept in mind is that if this will be used in a bench top configuration, users should keep a spare set of switches handy as dual GPU's will likely cover the onboard switches entirely.

motherboards‘s review Edit

This board has been incredibly impressive. It delivered performance that was nearly as good as their Rampage Formula version of this board that we reviewed earlier. For a board in this form factor to come with all of these amazing features and deliver this level of performance is just unreal. Asus has really outdone the competition with this new motherboard and this is what we’ve come to expect from their ROG series. This board looks amazing and the performance is there to back it up. Personally, have never really been a fan of mATX motherboards, but this one is changing my mind. You really are getting something special with this one. With both Crossfire and SLI support you really can’t go wrong. It’s just an incredibly powerful little board that beats most of the other ATX boards in this chipset. This board is totally deserving of our Editor’s Choice Award here at Motherboards.Org.
